How you want to demarcate those tiers is obviously subjective, but I don't see how you can leave off these Celtics' historical markers off the top tier, simply based on the very defined numbers. Top-end talent is why they'd be low within that

It's not that hard to put in perspective. They're in the same tier as the best teams ever, they're just near the bottom of that list. No one is saying they're the Jordan Bulls or KD Warriors, but that their resume has put them in the convo means they're above all the other groups

The fit and consolidation of skills could be better this season. Saying "they're not as good as last season" right now is focusing too much on the player for player comparison. Even then, swapping Smart for Porzingis and filling Grant's minutes with Hauser/Brissett/etc. is fine

"Ultimately we didn't get that 18th banner..." is a gut punch to read. Everyone is trying to win but some guys, because of their tenure and connection to the fans and franchise, especially want to bring a title to the city and pour so much into that pursuit. Falling short hurts

Caleb Martin should go down as one of the biggest wild card antagonists in Boston sports history. Aaron Boone had one big moment. Caleb Martin had an entire series. Not hyperbole to say he swung everything. Never seen anything like that. Shameful he's not the ECF MVP

I'm just in awe of what I watched with him. It's one of the more amazing things I've seen in basketball. It's something you couldn't ever account for, ever even imagine. And it swung a trip to the Finals and potential title. Salute to you, Caleb Martin. You will be nightmares
