Here are my top 3 thoughts after this weekend:

1. Coaches: avoid zone - we want to see players’ ability to defend in man. Help us evaluate YOUR players better.

2. Players w/potential: you want us to take a chance on you? Play TOUGH & HARD ALL THE TIME. Lazy potential GETS US FIRED. It’s a risk a lot of coaches are not willing to take.

3. All players: THERE IS NOTHING WRONG with cheering for your teammates on the court and on the bench. SMILE from time to time too. Makes you look like a GREAT TEAMMATE! Coaches EVALUATE YOUR INTANGIBLES as well. Don’t let this be a deciding factor whether you are seriously recruited or not.

COACHES we must be committed to teaching life lessons and not just our sport. A good place to start is leaving things better than you found it. Be invested in the WHOLE kid not just the player.
