This afternoon, I met with my host and President of the People's Republic of China, His Excellency Xi Jinping, at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

During our meeting, we discussed various issues, including our shared plans for deepening the bilateral relations between our two nations, Sierra Leone’s tenure at the @UN #SecurityCouncil, and efforts at promoting global #peace, among other issues.

I commended President Jinping for his transformative leadership that has repositioned #China globally and thanked him for his invaluable partnership and support towards #SierraLeone's socio-economic development.

Over the years, our bilateral relations have flourished, encompassing various areas, including trade, infrastructure development, education, mining and healthcare, and we look forward to leveraging strategic opportunities for the benefit of our two countries.

The MoU signed between our Governments will further solidify our cooperation and mutually beneficial partnerships, including my Government’s flagship FEED SALONE agriculture initiative to enhance the well-being of our citizens.

As part of efforts to sustain the ECOWAS-led efforts to safeguard and deepen democracy in #SierraLeone, His Excellency @PresidentBio received the Presidents of #Ghana and #Senegal, His Excellencies @NAkufoAddo and @Macky_Sall respectively at the State House in #Freetown.

Both leaders, alongside the President of the @ecowas_cedeao Commission, Dr Omar Alieu Touray were in Sierra Leone to continue the ongoing conversations on strategies to defend the sub-region against Unconstituitional Changes of Government.

Key on the agenda were discussions of the November 26th failed coup attempt and the ongoing investigations.

Also, the Heads of State advanced discussion on the #ECOWAS Security Mission to Sierra Leone and the role of President Bio as ECOWAS Envoy on the political situation in #Niger.

I bring you greetings from the Presidential Lodge in Freetown.

In the early hours of this morning, there was a breach of security at the Military Barracks at Wilberforce in Freetown, as some unidentified individuals attacked the military armoury.

However, they were repelled by our gallant Security Forces and calm has been restored.

As the combined team of our Security Forces continue to root out the remnant of the fleeing renegades, a nationwide curfew has been declared and citizens are encouraged to stay indoors.

The PEACE of our beloved NATION is PRICELESS and we shall continue to protect the peace and security of Sierra Leone against the forces that wish to truncate our much-cherished stability.

We remain resolute in our determination to protect democracy in Sierra Leone and I urge all Sierra Leoneans to unite towards this collective responsibility.

His Excellency @PresidentBio who is the Chairperson of the C-10 on the UN #SecurityCouncil (UNSC) Reform will lead other colleague Heads of State to examine the evolution of the UNSC Reform process thus far, including the work of the Inter-Governmental Negotiation process in canvassing and advancing the Common African position on the reform of the Security Council.
