I support the FA’s drive to develop more skilful players and I encourage problem solving, creativity and player ownership in my coaching approach. Please retweet so that we can have more and more days like today England 6-2 IR Iran👍

Belgiums restructure. Early 2000s, 1500 games analysed & some children touched the ball just twice in each half.
New philosophy:
-Let them dribble
-Let them play
-Small sided games, 2v2, 5v5, 8v8
-Player development replaced ranking

How did #ENG make it to the @EURO2020 final? What changed many years ago that led to this? Small sided games. Age appropriate instruction. Common sense in the face of opposition. #ENG fans can thank people like @nlevett & @sturge_p for their hard work to change culture their. 👍
Ash, if you develop the individual technique and then that player’s individual tactics - once you start putting these players together something quite special is possible. For Foundation Phase players, staying on the ball is where it all begins. Let’s do it👍
At U9’s? Let the focus be about being exciting on the ball and really hard to beat when the other team has it. Formations/tactics/strategy comes much later. I know teams have to compete in leagues but the focus should still be on the individual and the role they play.
