A three-year-old two fields over had put itself through a fence twice in a fortnight, and the answer turned out to be a donkey, who could only be borrowed as a matched pair.
He is a nice enough horse and none of it was his fault. He came off a lorry in June into a strange field with strange noises in it and did the thing a horse does, which is decide that everything present is coming for him and that the correct response to a hedge is to be on the far side of it immediately. Two fences, a cut over the knee, a vet out at eight in the evening, and a girl in her twenties standing at the gate in tears because she had bought him with everything she had.
Somebody suggested a donkey. People do. It sounds like folklore and it is not.
A donkey does not spook and go. A donkey plants, works out whether the frightening thing is actually capable of hurting him, and then, having ruled that it is not, ignores it so completely that a horse standing beside him finds it very hard indeed to keep the panic going on his own. A horse takes his reading of the world off whatever is next to him. Put something next to him that has never been alarmed by anything and the reading comes back different.
So Nelson went over on the Tuesday. And because you do not split a bonded pair, not for four days, not for one, Hector went with him.
Which produced the following field.
One young horse in the corner, vibrating.
One small grey donkey in the middle, eating.
One twenty-two-year-old Cavalry Black who had never been in that field before, standing about four feet behind the donkey and levitating sideways every time a pigeon came out of the ash.
The young horse watched the pair of them for two days. He watched the enormous decorated veteran come apart over a pigeon. He watched the small grey thing decline to lift its head for any of it, ever, once.
He picked the donkey.
By Friday he was grazing within ten metres of Nelson and had stopped patrolling the fence line. By the second week the girl could catch him in the open, which she had not managed since the day he arrived.
They went home on the Sunday. Nelson walked up the ramp first, because he always walks up the ramp first, and stood at the front of the trailer with the air of a man returning from a short business trip he had found broadly acceptable.
Hector called the entire way down the lane. He has never travelled quietly in his life, and on this occasion he was travelling with the donkey, which tells you something about how much of it is actually about being left behind.
The girl asked what she owed.
The farmer said nothing at all, and then asked her, because he genuinely wanted to know, whether anyone had ever explained to her what a donkey is for.
She said no.
Nobody ever does. Four hundred years of this country's considered opinion on donkeys amounts to a joke about stubbornness, while the animal underneath it has spent the whole of that time doing arithmetic no horse can manage, on worse food, for free.
If Naledi the Hippo thinks my forefathers trekked barefoot over the Drakensberge ,fought their way through the inland, attacked by malaria, and every tribe on the map, went through massacres like the Bloukrans massacres, fought 16 legions off zulus at blood river ,took on the strongest world empire twice ,went through concentration camps, then the arm blanke vraagstuk ,2 rebellions ,where bombs got dropped on boer protestors at one time, conquered British oppression that told me Afrikaans is a kitchen language, fought a bush war for 30 years against the USSR ,while a vicious propaganda war by literally the whole world media was targeting us, went through a country hand over in 1994 ,stuck it out while our people get butchered on farms, and 145 race laws written in the constitution just so that a useless pro Islam corrupt communist like her in 2026 can come tell me to destroy my culture and start obeying her stupidity........she is in for s fat surprise
On September 11, half a million people were taken off Manhattan by boat.
It took nine hours.
Everyone remembers the footage of people walking north across the Brooklyn Bridge. Almost nobody talks about the people south of the towers, who could not walk north, because north was where the towers had just come down.
Bridges closed. Tunnels closed. Subways stopped. Hundreds of thousands of people were standing at the edge of an island inside a cloud of concrete dust with nowhere left to go on foot.
A Coast Guard lieutenant named Michael Day got on the radio and called for every boat in the harbor. Any vessel willing to help evacuate Lower Manhattan, report in.
The harbor turned around and came at Manhattan.
Ferries. Tugboats. Dinner cruise boats. Fire boats. Private yachts. Sandy Hook pilot boats. Roughly 150 vessels and about 800 mariners, most of them civilians who happened to own a boat with a working engine.
At points the dust was so thick they were docking by radar because they could not see the seawall they were pulling against.
One captain was offered four thousand dollars by a man who wanted to be run across alone. He turned it down and kept loading people.
Another captain wrote down the name of a passenger afterward. Harold. He had been shaking badly when they pulled him aboard. Once he understood he was safe and headed for New Jersey, he asked to ride back with them and help.
The final count was over 500,000.
Dunkirk moved 338,226 men, and Dunkirk took days.
There was no plan for this. Nobody was in charge of it. One man with a radio asked, and a harbor full of strangers pointed their boats at the smoke.
Many of those mariners have cancer and lung disease now from the air they were breathing that day.
It is the largest water evacuation in human history.
It was finished before dinner. 🇺🇸
Oh man… not sure how to write this.
Here it goes.
January of last year, I did something I hadn’t done… ever.
I gave Trump credit for doing something good.
I gave him credit for keeping his promises to us in Western North Carolina.
I could never have imagined the volume of hate and anger I received from doing something that was so obviously the right thing to do.
Just giving credit where credit was due.
Saying thank you.
Since that moment, I’ve learned a lot.
I’ve learned that some of my liberal friends were never friends.
They torched our friendship almost immediately… just for thanking Trump.
I learned that many liberals seem to preach tolerance, but aren’t tolerant of conservative ideas AT ALL, it’s just an act to pretend to be moral.
I learned that the greatest organizations in the world are churches… something that was genuinely UNTHINKABLE even 2 years ago.
I learned that the media just… lies.
They lie constantly and without fear of ever being caught.
I learned this lying comes from a bizarre sense of righteous morality that the lie, in the end, will achieve some good.
I learned they cannot be trusted.
I learned that I offloaded my own critical thinking to these organizations, and that many of the news “stories” I believed were true… never were.
I learned what it means to be swatted.
I learned what it’s like to have some crazed leftists send armed police to my home, with my kids in their beds, at 2AM claiming I had been sh0t and to break down the door.
I learned that the only thing in the world that can change a persons mind is kindness is action… because that’s what changed mine.
I learned that kindness is telling the truth, not lying to protect someone’s feelings.
I learned that telling the truth is the most dangerous thing you can do, and that’s why free speech matters so much.
I learned that free speech is never truly free… they will come after your entire life and try to destroy everything in it.
…but it’s worth it
It’s all been worth it.
The only person responsible for Jason Arday's death is Jason Arday.
He was a liar and a fraud who was rightly exposed for what he really was by academics and journalists who were simply doing their job.
No one forced Arday to make up lie after lie about his life. He chose to do that. And he did it for financial gain and to bask in the applause it brought him.
He used those lies to deceive people into giving him a job he didn't merit, a lucrative book deal he didn't deserve, as well as fame and adulation he didn't earn.
And when he was found out, he called in the police and expensive lawyers to shut his accusers up, and his failed students who complained were branded as racist.
Cambridge University and Jesus College enabled this liar by lauding him as brilliant when he wasn't even mediocre. They should ask themselves why they put their DEI religion above the need for fairness in their appointments processes, above the needs of Arday's students and, most importantly, above the truth.
Arday's family and friends should ask themselves why they chose not to speak out to expose his lies which they must have known to be untrue.
The police should ask themselves why they thought it acceptable to investigate an academic and a journalist simply for asking questions about Arday's fraudulent CV.
The BBC and Arday's many other deluded cheerleaders should ask themselves why they were so desperate to believe Arday's outlandish claims in the face of all the evidence.
The thousands of the great and the good in academia, politics, media and law who signed the Good Law Project letter backing Arday should ask themselves why, without any justification, they outrageously branded Arday's critics as racists who just wanted to bring down a successful black man because of the colour of his skin.
All of these people made their own contributions to Jason Arday's life. And arguably all of them contributed in some way to his decision to take his own life when his fantastical claims were finally exposed for what they really were: lies.
The idea that those who exposed Arday as a lying fraudster are to blame for his death is as laughable as it is outrageous.
The idea that Arday was "hounded" to his death is absurd. He chose to tell every single lie himself and he even chose to continue those lies in his resignation letter from Cambridge. He is not the victim. He is the perpetrator.
The claim that Arday's downfall was only a front page story because he was black is also ridiculous. He chose to tell the lies that made him a front page story in the first place.
I feel sorry for those who loved him. It is very sad that he has chosen to take his own life rather than face the consequences of his own actions, which should have resulted in a criminal conviction for fraud.
But actions have consequences. This isn't about right and left. It's about right and wrong.
My fellow citizens of the free world,
I stand before you not as a politician seeking power, but as a human being who still believes in something simple and sacred:
That every nation has the right — and the duty — to protect its own people first.
If I were British, I would vote Restore.
If I were German, I would vote AfD.
If I were Italian, I would follow Giorgia Meloni without hesitation.
And if I were American, I would vote Republican. Every single time.
Not out of hatred.
Not out of fear.
But out of love.
Love for the country that raised me.
Love for the culture that shaped me.
Love for the children who will inherit whatever we leave behind.
There is a force in this world — quiet, patient, and immensely powerful — that has decided our nations must be broken.
It does not come with tanks.
It comes with open borders, with endless guilt, and with the soft language of “human rights” and “equality.”
It uses people from distant lands as instruments.
It tells us that to resist is to be cruel.
It tells us that to prefer our own people is to be evil.
And so the left sings its beautiful songs of compassion…
while our cities change beyond recognition,
while our women walk in fear,
while our children are taught to be ashamed of their own history,
and while the very idea of a people, a homeland, a shared destiny is slowly erased.
They promise utopia.
What they deliver is something much darker.
A future where free nations collapse into managed chaos…
and where the only ones left standing are the strongmen who never believed in our soft illusions —
the Putins, the Xis, the Kims, and the African dictators who laugh at our self-destruction.
Is that the future you want?
To become the servants of those who never pretended to care about “diversity”?
I am not against the world living in peace.
I am not against friendship between nations.
I am not against human kindness.
I am against the deliberate destruction of the only homes we have.
A rational human being understands a simple truth:
First, a people must be secure in their own land.
First, a nation must protect its own children.
Only then can it offer genuine friendship to others.
You cannot share what you no longer possess.
You cannot welcome the world when your own house is on fire.
So I say this with all the force of my heart:
Defend your people.
Defend your culture.
Defend your future.
Not because you hate others —
but because you still love yourselves enough to survive.
That is not extremism.
That is not hatred.
That is the most basic, most human form of love there is.
And if we lose the courage to say it…
then we will lose everything else as well.
My full speech at the @OxfordUnion debating whether the west is right to be suspicious of Islam.
I needed a security team to attend and we were spat at, bullied and heckled by a baying mob.
But I will not give up on free speech.
I will not submit.
It’s the politicians and the left-wing elite that divide South Africans. Ordinary South Africans of every colour get along well at malls, restaurants, universities and sports venues. We shouldn’t let the politicians and the left-wing elite divide us. #politics#economics
This lad playing bagpipes over the Muslim call to prayer is exactly how you preserve your culture.
Stand unapologetically for your own heritage.
Never allow Islam to erase generations of your history and identity.
South Africa is a democracy. All our leaders were voted into power by South Africans. South African voters must take responsibility for the decline of the country. They’ve voted for incompetence and anti-growth policies time and again. The truth is that simple.
🚨BREAKING: The UK Government is NOW going to change the law so that the ringleader of the Rochdale Rape Gang can now be deported.
Rupert Lowe on the Joe Rogan experience podcast has been out for over an hr, now the law has immediately changed.
The power of Rogan!!🔥
The fact that being 'anti-AC' is an actual political position shows you just how stupid large swathes of humanity are.
It's essentially a pro-death position.
It's as stupid as being against heating in the winter.
