The park has resumed normal operations at Chalmette Battlefield. The adjacent neighboring refinery fire was contained yesterday. And officials are no longer advising people to avoid the area.

Out of an abundance of caution, on Friday afternoon, 5/8/26, we are temporarily closing the Chalmette Battlefield and the Chalmette National Cemetery due to an explosion and fire at the nearby Chalmette Refinery.
The New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park is sponsoring a stage for the French Quarter Festival. In the courtyard at 419 Decatur St, on Saturday, 4/18 and Sunday, 4/19, from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm each day.
