Dear Comrades,

The fight for Five-Day Banking must not be seen merely as a struggle for implementation of an agreement that has remained pending for more than 30 months. This is a fight for our existence, our dignity, our families and our fundamental right to a humane working life.

Public Sector Bank employees serve far more customers than our private-sector counterparts. Even with private banks accounting for a substantial share of the banking market, it is overwhelmingly the Public Sector Banks and their employees who carry the burden of Government-sponsored schemes, financial inclusion, social-sector banking and the last-mile delivery of public policy.

We work for institutions owned by the people and for a Government that expects us to reach every citizen. We have never shied away from that responsibility. But those who expect us to serve the nation must also recognise one simple truth:

We are not robots. We are not machines. We are not AI tools. We are human beings.

We have families waiting for us, children who need our time, parents who need our care, and lives beyond targets, reviews, late-night meetings and relentless workplace pressure.

We are not asking for privilege. We are asking for dignity, balance and justice.

The growing culture of excessive working hours, constant pressure and an increasingly toxic work environment cannot become the new normal. Five-Day Banking is one important step towards restoring humanity to our workplaces.

Save the banker. Save the banking family. Respect the commitment already made.

Five-Day Banking is not a luxury.
It is not an unreasonable demand.
It is a just demand whose time has come.

Let us stand together, for ourselves, for our families and for the generations of bankers who will come after us.

Please go through the posts and observe carefully the narrative being created by the Government/DFS and certain sections of the media.

On one hand, the Management is being projected as if it is deeply concerned about the welfare of bankers and the inconvenience being faced by the public. But when an officer or employee makes even a minor mistake under immense workload and pressure, the same system is quick to issue a chargesheet and initiate disciplinary proceedings, often without adequately considering the circumstances in which the work was performed.

We must also understand how the narrative around our agitation is being shaped. Suddenly, there appears to be a strong attempt to portray bankers as responsible for inconvenience to the common public and to suggest that essential banking work is being stopped because of our legitimate demands.

The reality is that bankers are not against the public. Bankers are themselves part of the working public.

We serve customers every day, handle Government-sponsored schemes, financial inclusion, recovery, compliance, digital banking, credit, reporting and countless additional responsibilities—often beyond normal working hours.

Our demand for 5 Days Banking is not a demand against customers. It is a demand for a better and more sustainable working system for the people who keep the banking system running.

Let us not allow a carefully created narrative to divide us from the public.

We respect our customers.
We respect our responsibilities.
And we also demand respect for the bankers who serve the nation every day.
