The sad story of farmed minks in Denmark being slaughtered has at least given English speakers a chance to enjoy the delicious Dutch word "nertsenfokkers" (breeders of minks). It's pronounced pretty much as it's written. Recommended as an alternative to profanity.
#NERTSENFOKKERS
I had both kinds of professors and have seen both worries play out. Overall my considered judgement is that if you choose to discuss your own material then you should also give your best critiques a voice and emphasise that very few things (any?) are settled in philosophy.
NOT HELPFUL (sorry)
I think there is virtue in both. On the one hand by centring on the works of others and omitting your own you are not creating any kind of pressure that students should conform to your views. It’s a way of creating the conditions for thinking for one’s self.
Should I assign a chapter or two from my forthcoming book in my Hope and Despair seminar this spring, or should I teach only the excellent work of other hope scholars out there? I cannot decide what to do.
On the other hand, it’s also true that you have commitments and staked a position in these debates, so it seems that just as much can be said that you’re being honest about where you stand. This would allow your students to track where possible distortions/disagreements come from
@jennfrey Genuinely asking: Do you think that prejudice against women partially explains why Trump was favoured over HRC in 2016 in the rustbelt states?
I’m pretty sure I got a telemarketing/scammer call from a deceased high school classmate’s old phone number. The world is very normal and perfectly under control
Zeigt uns doch mal, was Ihr findet - viel Spaß! 😉https://t.co/GjjhuVRLnu
@IrgendwieJuna @L_Bednarz Ganz einfach: Römerbrief 11:33.
Für alle die weniger Bibelfest sind: „O Tiefe des Reichtums und der Weisheit und der Erkenntnis Gottes! Wie unergründlich sind seine Gerichte und unaufspürbar seine Wege!“
