All hands are on deck trying to accomplish as many #erosion prevention measures before the major storm event hits this weekend. Straw wattles were placed around burned areas to assist with preventing hazardous materials from leaching into the ground and water system. #BAER

So grateful the #CaldorFire is 💯 contained today. Hundreds of miles of suppression lines are restored, but we are all bracing for the #AtmosphericRiver on its way. Ash, debris, boulders, trees, & #waterquality are the next crises for the burn area.

On 10/2, a thoughtless person violated the #CaldorFire closure & built an illegal campfire which escaped & started a wildfire. Fortunately the #WillowFire near Trimmer Pk was found by infrared flight & extinguished before growing larger. We all need to better support fire crews!

Specialized aircraft, #SuperScoopers, are flying and literally skimming water off of #LakeTahoe to fight the #CaldorFire. The tankers can hold 1,600 gallons of h2o and drop it onto the fire from 100-150 ft off the ground! The avg turn around time on the Caldor Fire is abt 7 mins.
