The people of New York know AG James. We know that she stands with integrity and we know her record. I stand with AG James in calling this for what it is – a baseless political hit job – because she has always stood up for truth, justice and the people of New York.

The “Big Ugly” has now passed despite members from both parties opposing it. I voted no for three important reasons:
1. It gives unnecessary tax breaks to the wealthiest Americans.
2. It slashes health insurance and food benefits to some of the neediest Americans.
3. It explodes the deficit to the record largest amount in our nation’s history.
Most Americans, regardless of their politics, still believe in a simple, fair concept: that if you work hard, you should be able to afford to buy a house, put food on the table, educate your kids, have health insurance, and retire one day without being scared.
This bill moves us in the opposite direction, making life more expensive, more uncertain, and further out of reach for middle-class families and those aspiring to the middle class.
This is a sad day for the American people.
I'm disappointed that my colleagues across the aisle put billionaires over hardworking families and passed a bill that will slash funding for our health care system, hospitals, and nursing homes. This legislation puts Americans at risk—leaving many without access to doctors, food, or the resources they need, all while the wealthy continue to prosper.
Let me be clear: @HouseDemocrats won't stop fighting for what matters most to American families—access to affordable health care, safety for our communities, and the chance for everyone to achieve the American dream.
UPDATE: Senate Republicans passed a bill that will cut $1.1 trillion in Medicaid funding for millions of Americans.
People will lose health care and hospitals will close, all to pay for tax cuts that only benefit billionaires.
I am heading back to Washington to continue fighting against these extreme measures to destroy our communities.

I’m heading to Washington today to vote NO on a budget that unnecessarily provides tax breaks to the wealthiest Americans, and cuts much-needed healthcare and food programs while blowing the largest hole in the deficit in American history.
