Have you ever heard of your former leader, Boris Johnson ?

Boris Johnson’s time as Conservative prime minister was defined by a pattern of dishonesty that went far beyond normal political spin, culminating in a cross‑party finding by MPs that he repeatedly and deliberately misled Parliament.

The House of Commons Privileges Committee found that Johnson “deliberately misled” MPs when he repeatedly claimed that all Covid rules and guidance were followed at all times in Downing Street, despite having personal knowledge that this was untrue. ndependent fact‑checkers and media analyses documented a long list of false or misleading claims by Johnson on everything from crime and investment to Brexit and Covid. One analysis with Full Fact identified at least 17 false statements he made to Parliament after the 2019 election that were never formally corrected, including claims about crime figures and investment levels that contradicted official statistics.

Scholarly and journalistic work on his premiership has described a “general propensity to mislead” and a political style built on half‑truths and outright untruths, noting that references to the prime minister as a “liar” in the Commons spiked dramatically under Johnson. Commentators have linked this pattern to a wider erosion of standards in public life and a growing public perception that the government treated truth and the rule of law as optional.

Johnson became the first sitting UK prime minister ever found to have broken the law in office, after being fined over a Downing Street gathering that breached Covid regulations. The Privileges Committee said his conduct justified a suspension long enough to trigger a recall election, and only his pre‑emptive resignation as an MP spared him that formal punishment.

In summary, Johnson’s lies were not isolated gaffes but a governing method: deny, deflect, repeat, and refuse to correct, even when confronted with evidence and official findings. That record has left a lasting stain on the office he held and deepened the crisis of trust between the public and those who claim to govern in their name.

So @northumbriapol published a story this morning regarding a man who attempted to rape a stranger on a street in Sunderland

Ian Hudson, 42 years of age, targeted a woman who was walking home on 30th December last year. He approached his targeted victim from behind, after following her along the road, then over powered her and dragged her to the floor whilst physically and sexually assaulting her...

A younger man, Hamzah Albar, (24 years of age) was walking by at the time, witnessed what was going on and immediately confronted the attacker which made him flee the scene.

Hamzah then pursued and caught up with Hudson, detaining Hudson despite being punched in the face.

Police were then called by two more passers by and now Hudson has been convicted and sentenced to 9 years imprisonment for eight offences.

We aren't hearing much about this story which is qwhite interesting.

Britain 🇬🇧 needs a public inquiry into Brexit and it could be the pathway to rejoining the EU.

His core points are devastating:

🔹 Brexit failed to control immigration – replacing EU workers with asylum hotels and losing our right to return people to Europe.
🔹 Brexit choked trade, investment and labour, leaving the UK economy stuck at the bottom.
🔹 The EU has a functioning asylum pact. Britain, alone, has nothing.
🔹 57% of voters now want to go back.

He argues that a full public inquiry would finally expose Farage’s lies, reset the national story, and make it politically possible for Labour to lead Britain back into Europe.

Priti Patel has been forced out of cabinet once, when she was made to resign as International Development Secretary in 2017 over undisclosed meetings with Israeli officials, and she later left the cabinet voluntarily as Home Secretary in 2022 when Liz Truss became prime minister.

In 2017 Patel was serving as Secretary of State for International Development in Theresa May’s cabinet when it emerged she had held around a dozen undisclosed meetings with senior Israeli politicians and organisations, including Benjamin Netanyahu, during what was billed as a private “family holiday”. These meetings were not cleared with the Foreign Office, no British officials were present, and they were only acknowledged after being revealed in the media, raising clear questions about breaches of the Ministerial Code and normal diplomatic protocol.

After initially being “reminded of her responsibilities” and allowed to apologise, further undisclosed meetings then came to light, including follow‑up contacts in London and New York that she had not told the prime minister about when first confronted. Theresa May ordered her to fly back from an overseas trip, summoned her to Downing Street, and accepted her resignation, with Patel admitting her conduct had fallen below the standards of transparency and openness expected of a cabinet minister.

Boris Johnson later brought Patel back to cabinet as Home Secretary in 2019, despite her having already been found to have broken the Ministerial Code once. Her time at the Home Office was marked by repeated controversy, including a Cabinet Office inquiry that concluded she had breached the Ministerial Code again through bullying behaviour towards civil servants, though Johnson chose to keep her in post and his adviser on ministerial standards resigned instead.

Patel eventually left the cabinet in September 2022 when Johnson fell and Liz Truss became prime minister, pre‑emptively tendering her resignation as Home Secretary rather than being formally sacked, and returning to the backbenches. This means the one clear occasion on which she was effectively sacked from cabinet was the 2017 Israel meetings scandal, which ended her first cabinet career in disgrace before her later rehabilitation under Johnson.

Despite being UK-born herself, her strict immigration policies would ironically disallow someone with her background from entering the UK today. She advocates for tough immigration controls, including deporting 150,000 undocumented immigrants annually and stricter asylum processes to protect British communities from what she calls the dangers of high immigration and lack of integration.

Badenoch also once admitted to illegally hacking into Labour politician Harriet Harman’s website about 10 years ago by guessing her password and posting pro-Conservative messages. Harman accepted her apology, but under today’s rules, such an offense could lead to deportation if committed by a non-citizen.

This highlights the complex and controversial stance Badenoch takes: advocating for tough immigration laws while her own story illustrates the immigrant journey and past mistakes that many could face under her policies.
