So many people don't realize that selling is more than just closing a deal. It's building a relationship, it's negotiating a raise, it's getting hired, it's selling a project internally. Ultimately it's communicating effectively. Everyone should be taught this early in life
@kevinrose@tferriss listened to your recent episode and wanted to share a cool service for experiencing mini-apprenticeships while traveling (creating art, learning calligraphy, tango...) Check out @vawaa_ and hope you find it interesting!
@AmericanAir I know you may have hiring issues right now but to force someone to wait 2 hours when they are overseas and traveling tomorrow is absurd. You need a better way to prioritize or communicate because this is just bad customer service and costly!
@tylertringas@julien A lot of times it's not sales effort as an issue but sales leadership and the basics of understanding of solution/problem/communication needing the investment
I have debated making this my value add to founders because so many don't know how to define this or listen to customers
@ollywoadhill@harryhurst I was thinking the same thing. It is more what value are they currently bringing and how engaged do you plan on them being. If they are there for name only, it is a negative because you are giving equity away to leverage their name with investors.
@jefielding Not sure if this is exactly what you were looking for but two companies that caught my attention and felt could be interesting to dive into are https://t.co/Evs4S0ehxf and https://t.co/96PCshPGSk
Different approaches but both I feel are more aligned to your thesis
@BackoftheE@auren Fully agree and think the key is that you don't have to make that decision on the spot and be fully dismissive of the person or defensive. Sometimes letting them ramble further or say it a different way will spark something others never said
@NotechAna@tylertringas I think it also goes beyond "breaking" to more challenging and questioning. I love hearing "but that isn't the way it works" when I come up with an idea because that means I am trying something new and will be able to get some insight as to why it isn't the way it works.
@schlafman@schlaf I agree but I think the problem most people get is the aspect of "I don't have the time or energy to push myself today so the workout won't really be good so I shouldn't do it". I have fallen into the loop and constantly have to remind myself that small movements matter.
@ABlekh@lolitataub This is one of my biggest problems with founders. They don't treat fundraising like sales. Whether they don't know how to sell and expect to hire a sales leader or they were taught that VCs are different, it all comes down to relationships and the basics of selling.
@ABlekh@lolitataub I think the question can be rephrased as to how to reach back out to a prospect after they have formally rejected you. Whether a sales prospect or VC prospect the only thing that is changing is the what you are selling. It is all about the context we put them in.
@roshanpateI It is "friends and family" as in anyone you get money from, even if you just met them is now as close to you as your friends and family. Always get thrown off when they leave the quotes off

@alexmeshkin@m_franceschetti@alexmeshkin I have been looking into this for a while and keep coming back to the fact that these tests give a good amount of false positives and may lead you away from healthy foods that you don't have a negative reaction to. Would love to hear more about your test
