As promised, one more post. The blue sky place seems to be becoming Twitter's heir, so, this is to say that I'm at this same @ over there. I don't think they'll let me post a direct link, but you can work it out. I reserve the right for one more post if that place starts sucking.
As a final tweet from this account, save for the aforementioned links to whatever new place(s) we decide on:
To the wonderful friends and creators I've followed here, you all were great enough that I tolerated Twitter for you. That should be seen as the highest of compliments.
This is dumb. "Break things and see what works" is a cool engineering idea because you are working in vitro. This is throwing a brick at some dude's bicycle that he's actively riding and saying HA I SPOTTED A WEAKNESS. Musk bought the platform, he does what he wants--as do do I.
I am comforted by the fact that I have always hated this place, its constant need for active maintenance to remain tolerable. I have nothing to lose by leaving. My heart goes out to those who aren't able to say that.
Taking in the narratives that are being constructed about the 75% of Twitter employees that took severance is giving me extreme Rashomon vibes, unless they were all simultaneously irreplaceable system-crit engineers and lazy woke parasite free-speech-hating content moderators
@wednesday I'm not going to get all hippie new-age on you, because awful things do happen, but I believe that in all human's lives there absolutely needs to be a balance between rational preparation for the future and and the experience of the Now. Because the Now is all there is.
@wednesday So the thing about requesting things from the Universe is that the Universe often uses humans as tools to facilitate the providing of things that you ask of it.
Don't hamstring the universe by thinking of every request to a friend--or even a stranger--as a grift or a demand.
@BelleSweetai Yeah, but Mastodon has a reputation of being intricate and counterintuitive. It feels like a good small-circle social interaction, but nothing has yet duplicated Twitter's worldwide low-entry-bar town square thing--warts and all.
Tryng to remain level-headed with all the doomtalk on the site tonight. It feels like Twitter won't go away, but it also can't help become something completely new and different with this level of upheaval. Whether that different thing is useful and valuable remains to be seen.
@wednesday If there's any universe with lower hanging fruit than MLP's "anything vaguely horse-related" theme naming, it's Monster High, and I am all for it.
Komboocha, wow.
@translesbian117 @PunchlinesX @RevJacquiLewis Back in the day, we had single-serve boxes of cereal that explicitly told you to tear open the front and pour milk into the waxed paper liner, just do that on a large scale and reclaim this once-great country
