@davidllada Preferred alternative? Something like ChessX or HIARCS Chess Explorer?
I was under the impression ChessBase was still the industry standard curious if thatโs changed.
@thekitze Can I get in on this? I was doing so well until a bag of sour skittles killed me the other day. No alcohol no problem but candy is my kryptonite.
@thekitze Made the switch for a month or so. Tried hard to like it. Iโve since switched back.
- Never found a way to copy passwords without revealing them.
- Not tracking which accounts were created with providers.
- The browser extension is worse.
- Behavior on my windows machine is ๐
Keep in mind I couldn't use -build-mode:static since that isn't implemented for non-windows targets. So I just built as an object file then ar rcs'd my way to the lib file.
Is that the right way to do it? No clue! But it got me what I wanted ๐
The other night I spent (a period of time I am not comfortable disclosing) figuring out why my static lib written in @odinlang was causing a duplicate _main symbol when linking. I know I didn't define one.
Turns out I just needed to specify -no-entry-point when building ๐
@MarcusBuffett Most likely new tech. I was considering going the electron route but there's so much I'd rather do differently I want to take the opportunity to switch it up. Might be naive. Still need to think on it.
I'm toying with the idea of turning ChessCloud from web only into a desktop app. There are better (and cheaper) ways to store lots of PGNs. My focus is really on the better branching view, and having that available offline doesn't sound too bad.
@lexfridman@ThePrimeagen@dhh@taylorotwell I love to see Odin mentioned here. Reading @karl_zylinski โs book reminded me how much I miss lower level programming. Iโm also biased towards the name Odin ๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ
@deno_land Iโฆ I didnโt even know that was a thing. ๐ Which usually I wouldnโt admit publicly on the internet because I write a lot of JavaScript so Iโm embarrassing myself here. But it proves your point so here I am.
