๐ Did anyone else notice this?
Kai Havertz was playing for Germany. Piero Hincapiรฉ was playing for Ecuador.
Hincapiรฉ gets booked... and Kai looks more upset than Hincapiรฉ himself or even the Ecuador players. ๐ญ๐คฃ
Is this a normal reaction? ๐
Arteta has built something special. This Arsenal squad is so close that Kai's first instinct seemed to be protecting his teammate... even while they were representing different countries. โค๏ธ๐

โThis rebranding is a testament to how far weโve come in five years, but more importantly, it is about where we are going,โ the club noted in its announcement. โKira Jaguars BBC represents our commitment to our roots, our fans, and the future of basketball in this region.โ

I wish I could unsee the gory video of Sydney Gongodyo being battered like a common chicken thief.
I wish I could stop imagining what was going through his mind in that moment.
I wish I could unfeel the rage, the pain, the fear of what we have become.
I wish. I wish. I wish ๐ช
Earlier today, I posted decrying the mob justice that claimed Uganda Cranes rugby star Sydney Gongodyo. My inbox immediately flooded with messages claiming Iโm being insensitive to the victims of Kampalaโs rampant petty crime. Letโs clarify something immediately: condemning a public execution does not mean tolerating theft. Crime ruins lives, but street lynchings destroy the very fabric of society.
โLook at the math here. Sydney was a refined athlete, a Makerere University alumnus with immense exposure, deep social capital, and a thriving network. How does someone with that background end up mistakenly butchered on a dirt road? It proves that in a mob state, your education, your innocence, and your character mean absolutely nothing. The street operates on instant, unverified panic.
โWhen you defend the mob because youโre frustrated by stolen phones or handbags, you are defending a system that lacks a discovery phase. There is no trial, no evidence, and no turning back when you realize you killed the wrong person. Sydney's death is proof that the mob is a blunt instrument that strikes blindly. If a prominent national figure can be erased from the grid in ten minutes based on a stranger's scream, then no average citizen is safe. We cannot afford to mistake collective bloodlust for public safety. We must demand due process, because without it, everyone is just one misunderstanding away from a death sentence.
R.I.P Sidney. I became a rugby fan because of Sidney. I followed the Pirates and Rugby Cranes because of him. My son loved everyone, and everyone loved him. Sidney's mother๐๐๏ธ๐ #NBSportUpdates
There are moments in life when words feel too small for the weight of grief you carry. This is one of those moments.
Guga, we grew up sharing more than a rugby pitch. We shared blood, not just the blood of brothers in sport, but the deeper bond of our people, our tribe, our roots. You knew where I came from before I ever had to explain it. That kind of kinship is rare and I am broken knowing I will never stand beside you again.
As your Captain, I watched you carry yourself with a quiet dignity that made my job easier. You never needed me to push you, you pushed yourself.
Every scrum, every breakdown, every bruising collision, you gave everything. You were the kind of teammate who made the man beside you better and the dressing room feel like home.
But beyond the jersey and the titles we won together, you were simply my young brother. The laughter, long journeys and conversations that only made sense to us, I will hold those close for the rest of my days.
The Black Pirates will run out again, but there will always be a space on that field that belongs only to you, Gongodyo. No one will fill it.
Now rest well Guga. I love you โค๏ธ

Immensely proud of Sydney's dad. Despite the huge family loss, he has explained circumstances relating to death well. The clarity of thought, articulation of expression & firmness of emotion will preserve a decent record
That old generation of Ugandans is decent & well-schooled.
Itโs hard to make sense of how we can be capable of that to one another. No one deserves to die that way. No one.
May his soul find gentle rest and peace. And may we never lose the part of us that feels, that grieves, that refuses to accept this kind of violence as normal.
I watched the videos of Sydneyโs lynching last night, and it shook me in a way I canโt quite put into words. Everything inside me just went quiet, like a heavy silence took over.
There was this deep, aching cold in my chest that refused to go away, and the sadness stayed with me long after the videos ended.
It hurts to know that someone had to face such cruelty, such a painful and undignified end.
