@reflectivemaths If they can remember how to use their calculator functions then usually OK, although often use y and x whatever the variables in the question.
@reflectivemaths And the interpretation of what a and b mean in context, whilst only usually 1 or 2 marks in an exam, is probably the bit they find hardest
@reflectivemaths This is again a problem when rearranging something like y=3.47-1.95x to find x given y. They can solve 2 step but the decimals throw them no matter how much I stress the process is just the same.

I would 100% recommend this work group to all A Level teachers in the Gloucs/Worcs region. @mr_man_maths is a fantastic work group lead who builds a really supportive, collaborative community of colleagues in his work groups #mathshubs#mathscpd

Teaching A Level Maths? Want to go deeper into the pedagogy of mathematical modelling? Are you teaching in the Gloucestershire / Worcestershire area (@GLOWMaths)?
Then come along to our work group which takes place @NorthBromsgrove on 7th November!
@CoreMathsTom@MrJ_Maths I know exactly what you mean! I often say I’ve never needed to recall the causes of the Abyssinia Crisis yet I still learnt that in GCSE History - and found it quite interesting too!
@Whitehughes @mrsouthernmaths@whithughes No worries - it really is a great book. Very thought provoking. I definitely need to move proof earlier in my teaching!
Love the slow starts on summer holiday mornings for the chance to sit with my eldest & read our latest books. I am absolutely loving my choice - so many great ideas that will definitely improve my A Level teaching, and my department’s. Thank you @mrsouthernmaths & @Whithughes
