👀A rigorous study by a respected diet researcher showing that IF is a load of garbage? Hmmm…tell me more. Diets don’t work. Period. And yes IF is a diet. https://t.co/1ODghv415T.
@maddy_palermo Hahah “avoiding by writing grants”!? I have been avoiding this by petting my cat and doing nothing 😂 so I say you’re basically a bad ass 😂
Anyone know of any good literature to cite about why research using a sample of "obese and overweight individuals seeking weight loss" is not completely generalizable to a sample with clinically significant BED or clinically significant eating disorder pathology? #edresearch
1/2: Ok academic twitter - Particularly my fellow @EDResearchers. I have a question: have any of you ever worked with a treatment seeking clinical sample (individuals entering residential treatment) and struggled with a subset of individuals very clearly underreporting symptoms?
@DrJeanForney @DrJeanForney Thanks - that is helpful! We were thinking this too so I'll have to go in and see if those measures look more accurate. We luckily have measures for both of those and the EDQoL Inventory so I'll take a look there :)
@CheriLev @rowanahunt@stephmanasse@SchaumbergK@KAConiglio @HaynosAF @CheriLev It is a sample of individuals entering residential treatment. It includes some adolescents and adults w/o medical rights due to their ED so they may not always be entering voluntarily (although consented to the research participation)...
As millions of people across the country take to the streets and raise their voices in response to the killing of George Floyd and the ongoing problem of unequal justice, I’ve heard many ask how we can sustain momentum to bring about real change.
Ok #edresearch friends: When using the EDE-Q what norms do you typically use? Also is there any literature out there on a clinical cutoff? Everything I is 10+ years old and/or not based on a US sample. My instincts tells me diet culture has probably impacted norms since then....
