For people who don’t know - the fight over the ‘Save Act’ is really about the filibuster. The Act would secure elections - making the kinds of fraud we all suspect much harder. You would need ID etc.

If the GOP introduces the bill for a vote, it will face an immediate filibuster from democrats - who benefit from shady voting systems. The GOP cannot get together a majority to eliminate the filibuster - they cannot accept that the left is going to eliminate it at the first opportunity, and don’t want to go first. Maybe some GOP types also just don’t like the Save Act for whatever reason - but most of them are not against the substance. They are ‘standing on principle’ about the filibuster - as if there are any principles left in a world in which democrats openly talk about adding senators through making Puerto Rico and DC states, then packing the supreme court, then eliminating the electoral college.

Sen. Cotton said that the SAVE America Act does not have 50 votes, which is false.

Senator Mike Lee introduced an amendment to attach the SAVE America Act to budget reconciliation 2.0 & it did garner 50 votes.

This was a direct attack on Senator Mike Lee. You’ll also note that Sen. Cotton even addresses Lee in this clip.

It’s not by mistake.

Cotton was likely instructed to try to sow discord about the SAVE America Act & the architect of the legislation.
