Video recorded by #HVO geologists of the new #Kilauea eruption. This clip is from the west rim of the crater at approximately 6 a.m. HST. Telephoto view shows multiple active vent sources and lava flooding the crater floor.
I'm at a bar in Hawai'i and there's a dude here with an OU shirt and I shouted BOOMER at him and he looked confused so I did it again, but with more vigor and he looked at me like I was insane and I told him he has to say SOONER
"It's just a shirt," he says.
I died inside.
@daclaxt59 Will you also gain a tightly-woven community rich in culture and tradition, beautiful beaches, and warmth year round?
I'm not saying never... but I am saying not right now. I'm here as long as the islands allow me to stay, however long I'm fortunate enough to do so.
It's a real struggle to not rub it in that Hawai'i remains on the same time throughout the year.
'Spring forward' and 'fall back' aren't helpful... that change to your body clock is so jarring. Not having it is pure bliss.

If you're wondering why I'm not posting a ton of cool information on #maunaloa, I am. Just not on here.
If you feel like learning something, head on over:

If not, no worries. We're all adults. You make your own choices.
Nearly half of all earthquakes on planet earth in the past 24 hours have occurred on the Island of Hawai'i.
The island only accounts for 0.002% of earth's surface.

This preliminary map of the eruptive activity at Mauna Loa shows the location of three fissures erupting on the Northeast Rift Zone. We will be providing a more detailed map once our field crews have reported flow locations. #MaunaLoa#MaunaLoaErupts
@CraigWLand@UtahDroneGuy@AnneRN79 I want to be super clear here... it upsets me when fake pictures are posted and circulated as truth. This isn't helpful during natural disasters. It's disrespectful. It's manipulative.
The fact that we're still having this conversation is exhausting. I'm done.
@DonaldJClaxton Yes! Those are mammatus clouds that frequently form on the underside of anvil tops in thunderstorms.
The bubbling comes from instability where air is bobbing up and down. You see this on the underside of waves in the ocean too.
@rhw420 I flew somewhere for the weekend maybe 3 times a year when I live in Dallas.
An extra 5 hour flight to LAX to get where I need to go is peanuts to have frogs lull me to sleep, birds sing me awake, and beaches that make your heart stop.
Why would I go anywhere else? LOL.
I just got Hawai'i license plates put on my car... and the guy at the inspection office asked if I wanted to keep my toll tag and Texas registration sticker "just in case..."
Sir, it was 108° there yesterday. No thank you.
