In my early 20s, I experienced a #depression so dark I thought the light was gone forever. I got help & am thriving now. If you've been/are there, I understand. You're not alone in the darkness.

What if we changed “chief complaint” to “highest priority concern”?
Patients aren’t just “complaining.” They are seeking help for a concern.
Anyone else wonder how changing one phrase found in every piece of medical documentation might fundamentally change how we view people?
@cclareMDMPH@many_themiles Love this! So important. And also so ironic that filling in a discrete “Chief Complaint” is a hard stop in our EHR. No fill in this field, which then autopopulates into the note = no can close encounter! 🤦🏻♀️

@AnneBlackerby@SusanMerel The medical student was a man. My patient looked at him before beginning and said, "You wont understand all of this, but you need to hear all of it." It was truly an incredible moment!
One of my patients made me cry in clinic. In a good way. What she said to me applies to all of us in medicine. Even when it doesn’t feel like it, we are seen. We are appreciated.

Daughter’s newest “new-to-her” Barbie. “Look mom! She’s wearing scrubs and looks like you so she must be a doctor, just like you!” Reminder that children notice things. Representation matters.

@GabrielleGear @emilyzumab I highly recommend setting up inbox rules. Based on sender, subject, etc you can have things sent to different folders. I have “internal spam,” “student projects,” etc folders…some of which I only periodically (never) check.
“You’re struggling because you’re in the wrong plane.”
Turns out teaching surgical skills is very similar to cooking with a child. Main difference - child may yell at you for being too bossy; residents rarely do 😂
