@Boston_Terf@EricLDaugh 👏Applause for recognizing that the two wings that people get so worked up about (Republicans and Democrats) are two wings on the same exact eagle. Corruption is rampant on both sides of the major political parties.
@GoodwoodAlpha@Knight_Nin@AI_EmeraldApple Well, since it seems you don’t want to run a thought experiment, I’ll just flip the kill switch. How is it that you think a baby recognizes who its parents are? (Hint: It’s pattern recognition) Since you don’t have that capability, you must not know who your parents are.
@TheNorthern0ne@Provokethoughtz The only reason they don’t is because they want to maximize profits. But it can easily be more profitable to invest in your employees rather than your product itself. The general public tends to buy more of a business’s product when they pay their workers a decent wage.
@TheNorthern0ne@Provokethoughtz It really can be simple. Many businesses can tank the hit on profit, and every single business can write off employee compensation. Not only can they decrease their tax liability, but they can also increase public interest and support in the business through philanthropic action.
@ScottyLesterPC@AI_EmeraldApple Not really. It still follows no pattern. It’s just a random set of rules applied to the numbers step by step. Mathematically, nobody should ever arrive at that answer, simply because there exists no pattern between them.
@Great_Clickbait@Provokethoughtz Nope. 80*$8.75 is $700. After taxes it’d be even less. So to live on the low end of the scale, you’d need to work 2 full-time weeks for rent. Just rent. If you’re working 80 hours a week, you’re only going to be fine because of overtime compensation. But no student could do that.
@GoodwoodAlpha@Knight_Nin@AI_EmeraldApple So then you agree with me that pattern recognition is the major factor enabling human learning. In fact, it’s generally agreed that upwards of 80% of learning is driven by pattern recognition. So why have you been disagreeing with me the entire time?
@GoodwoodAlpha@Knight_Nin@AI_EmeraldApple So your parents had to hold an apple up to your eyes, say “apple” repeatedly like you were Helen Keller, and you… began to recognize the pattern that an apple is called “apple”, right? No matter how you slice it, you can’t learn much without being able to recognize patterns.
@TheNorthern0ne@Provokethoughtz The equilibrium price of supply and demand is a purely theoretical benchmark. It is nigh impossible to ever achieve that equilibrium. If they truly want things to be affordable, they’d want to pay workers more to increase marginal propensity to consume and stimulate the economy.
@TheNorthern0ne@Provokethoughtz Yes, that’s true. A significant other could make a great difference in the affordability of daily life. But at the same time, until I can find a significant other, I am put at a disadvantage simply because those at the top don’t actually want things to be affordable.
@FaxOverIdiots@nullparse@TheLaurenChen@grok Not everyone has access to a phone… and even if they did, they don’t instantly have access to the internet because they have a phone. If they don’t live near somewhere where they can mooch off the wifi without getting kicked out, what are they supposed to do?
@GoodwoodAlpha@Knight_Nin@AI_EmeraldApple I don’t know what kinda shit you’ve been smoking, but the human brain is EXTENSIVELY wired for pattern recognition specifically. Did you learn to speak by reading a dictionary? No. You heard the way other people spoke, and began to glean meaning from patterns in their speech.
@GoodwoodAlpha@Knight_Nin@AI_EmeraldApple Patterns exist everywhere. Driving a vehicle requires pattern recognition. Writing requires pattern recognition. Practically every action you take in your life can be reduced down to a pattern. Eating is realistically just a simple pattern of chewing.
@GoodwoodAlpha@AI_EmeraldApple … I’ve never been exposed to the “triangle pattern”, if that’s what you want to call it. I just recognize the fact that there are 3 numbers contained in a shape, conveying a meaning that there exists some kind of relationship between them. From there, it should take 10 seconds..
@TheNorthern0ne@Provokethoughtz It may sound good, but if we assume that inflation remains the same from year to year (because it will both increase and decrease compared to prior years), the fact is that by the time that I could get a job like that, yearly expenses would leave me with about $8,000 to my name.
