I'm a TBI survivor with not much memory. Twitter is my crazy times journalš¤ / memoirs of life after a career ending, non-sports related concussion/TBI.
Today is the second reading of Bill C-22 for the Canada Disability Benefit. People with disabilities are twice as likely to live in poverty - and that was before the pandemic. Tag your representatives and encourage the fast-tracking of Bill C-22

Nathan asked why I touched his neck and back when heās trying to sleep. I responded just to make sure youāre warm and not dead. Then I realized how morbid being a parent is. Especially since he is 12.
āYou know dad. Neglected children need counselling in their 40s and you neglected me by not making me a sandwich. Itās me. I am the neglected child. And if I wasnāt neglected I also probably wouldnāt argue with matthewā
Now thatās a 12 year old boy who makes me proud. #parenting
I am 7 years out. Every day I look in the mirror and say āget your shit together, todays the day you get over itā and then all the competing stimuli start flooding my brain⦠and Iām reminded.

Me to my 14 yo āeven tho you wash your clothes. Thereās an optics issue with wearing the same thing every day. Girls will think itās grubbyā response: āyah well I donāt care about girls right now so itās not a problem for meā oh to have this level of unbridled confidence
I do this still at 6 years out & I have moments when I think Iām cured š but nope. It just takes one awesome (or not) activity to realize my reality. So now I ask; is the āTBI hangoverā worth this activity? If yes, I do it & plan in recovery time. If not, Itās a hard pass.
"I convinced myself that I was healed after a couple of (fairly) good weeks...in which I followed all my rules... Maybe I was finally healed!..5.5 years of living with a #braininjury I still stumble in the pitfall of overconfidence."via @refindingnormal https://t.co/8oI5XTX8D9
Research is pointing to Covid brain and nervous system impacting TBI symptoms. Exhasperating or creating setbacksā¦. Thatās pretty uncool Covid. Pretty uncool.
#Braininjury survivors have been shown to have an even greater risk from #COVID19 due to the neurological impacts. #LongCovid exacerbates existing #PCS symptoms. Reducing risk is a personal choice, but for me, the choice is clear.

Nathan was just telling us at breakfast today
āI saw people crying about stuff on tiktok and I want to write on their comments; who raised you to be a victimā
and Iāve never been so proud ššš
@MyTBIBlog I struggle playing the piano with both hands now. Itās crazy the reach of a TBI. I work at it and I celebrate the tiniest of improvements šš¼ as they come. Keep plucking away (pun intended)
The stats are scary and all we can do is try our best and keep talking because nothing prepared us for this. #tbi#postconcussion https://t.co/VAKnIFFSBB
Research clearly shows that cheese is the single most protective food against age-related cognitive decline and red wine improves brain function measurably. This ranks amongst some of the best news Iāve recently received.

Sensory overload can zap energy from a #braininjury survivor and cause a lot of pain.... light & noise sensitivity has a big effect on your life.
Hereās my tips on how to avoid that happening via @CFGLaw #TBI >>> https://t.co/EkM3lT14VD
So true!! Iāve been tweaking our family diet towards Mediterranean so that I can have the leg up against the early onset of these two scary diseases.
#Braininjury survivors are more likely to develop #Alzheimers or #Dementia, and have an increased risk of early onset symptoms.
The MIND diet is scientifically proven to reduce our risk and to keep our minds sharper for longer.
