@SteveLovesAmmo Every time we needed anything doing to our computer (Windows 95), the nice man in the tech shop said ‘I’ve upgraded you to Windows 98’. We hated it so switched back to 95! I’ve still got the windows95 CD that came with the computer
@MartinSLewis@MailOnline Martin. According to online headlines, you seem to be regularly giving out ‘urgent warnings’ about all sorts of topics. Always a nice picture of you though
@DavidHa61825151@19andyhall71@MartinSLewis Not if you use the transfer procedure when doing it. Don’t withdraw from the ISA and pay it into another yourself or that will be counted as allowance
@MattZeeMiller@MartinSLewis One of local shops has that option. The till worker never asks or gives the option - she just says ‘press the red button’, declining the donation extra
@AngelaRayner ‘We’? My employer is paying a higher wage. It used to start at 90p above min. This year, it starts at 25p above. I reduced my weekly hours to help keep jobs here
@steviejay65@PhilipProudfoot usage cost is same again on drainage/sewerage-Unless you claim you have garden that uses up most of that used water. Though it does sound rather wrong to charge for rainwater disposal.
@marcuspolo1981@MartinSLewis@ofgem Mine do but my gas meter is approaching the 9999 reading number. Probably about 9 months left.I’m wondering if they’ll then say it is at the end of its life and install one anyway.
@LindaBamford151@MartinSLewis@ofgem@BritishGas That’s when compensation should be available. I don’t have snartmeters , despite the constant hounding. I read my meters every month&don’t really care if my bill is out for a month or two as I pay the same amount. I calculate annual usage & adjust direct debit myself.
@anthonypender4 @englandislost @RachelReevesMP It has impacted any potential wage rise amount for the small business I work for. Always been above minimum wage but the gap narrows. I’ve taken a 2 hour a week hours cut to help save jobs.
@emxlymargaret When my son was about to leave school, he had a training scheme lined up. 2 years &paid him. His school insisted everyone attended a TTE interview to be taken on to 12 week scheme at half the money. He was 15 mins late ‘sorry I’m late but I had to see the end of Neighbours’.
@MartinSLewis I recently moved my banking apps to an old spare phone which I keep at home. Doesn’t prevent remote hacks but saves the risk of a snatch theft whilst out and well worth the inconvenience of having to wait a few hours til I’m home to do a transaction or check something
@MartinSLewis@itvMLshow Already got free wills through insurance policy. We’ve almost completed 4 power of attorney forms on gov site for free. Need to check my cert holder is willing then I can print and sign. We have to pay the reg fee for each but many on some benefits could get that free or reduced
@PeterStefanovi2@Keir_Starmer At the rates schools will get for these free breakfast clubs,I can envisage some schools scrapping the already existing parent paid wraparound clubs that parents find essential to be able to go to work. The per pupil rate for 8 children wouldn’t cover half hour wage for 1 person
@MartinSLewis just noticed Tesco are removing the Pay in Store option from their app on 7th March. First I’ve heard. I use it regularly and would have gone shopping at the weekend expecting not to take a card &my phone to pay for my shopping
@MartinSLewis from what I’m seeing, is it time for a reminder that water meters, for many(not all), can result in a massive annual saving. There’s a quick questionnaire online that asks how many people, are you in all day, baths v showers, washing machine use. Then gives estimate
@Keir_Starmer I’ll need a nice library to spend my days when my employer gives up & closes down. Energy bills new contract now double, NI changes. Oh, we did have a nice library but it was changed to community centre rooms to hire, keeping one small wall of books& computer screen to do online
@dyson123@ralph_chidley@MartinSLewis@itvMLshow I thought everyone this affected had reached retirement age already a few years ago. Husband was contracted out &, when state pension kicked in late 2019, he got full new pension amount + a little private pot from contracted out. had he been just a year older, different outcome
@MartinSLewis Still having the smart meter requirement argument. EDF said I can sign to a fixed rate but I may be removed from it in 3 months if I don’t have a smart meter fitted
