It is important to resist the commodification of basic human needs. Food, water and healthcare cannot be subordinated to market considerations or geopolitical interests. Access to adequate food is a fundamental human right grounded in the dignity of every person. Meeting this need not only alleviates suffering but also addresses underlying causes of geopolitical instability. Indeed, food security is an essential component of global and integral security. https://t.co/DgkM9RegJ7
Imagine finally accepting that you need help.
Finally getting that mobility aid.
Finally applying for that handicap permit.
Finally asking for that accommodation.
Only to have complete strangers make you feel like you have to defend it.
Before questioning someone’s needs, ask yourself one question
“What if I’m wrong?”
“ARPA-H… is spending $150 million to create what it calls ‘an immune system for every building.’”
“I believe that a provision of pure air for children (and adults) to breathe should be looked upon as of equal importance to the provision of pure water”
“When Covid hit in 2020, the World Health Organization emphatically stated that it was not airborne — which turned out to be wrong.”
@carlzimmer
Has Carl seen the news conference from 11th February 2020 where Tedros emphatically stated “Corona is AIRBORNE”?
Carl cannot keep perpetuating the narrative that WHO were simply wrong. @DrTedros knew, and as Trump said “everybody knew it was AIRBORNE”
They deliberately lied. That is different.
Millions died thinking handwashing and sneezing into your elbow was going to help protect them.
The disinformation was deliberate which still needs to be acknowledged by WHO +/- by those that have left like Mike Ryan or Soumya.
As @LolaGerms puts it “….there’s no special military meaning of airborne, no one knows what Tedros Ghebreyesus, the director of the WHO actually meant when he said that”
Why has no one asked him?
Why do the media never hold them to account?
Ask anyone who thinks Covid ended to define the era after Covid and they’ll describe to you how things feel off, how it isn’t the same, that something is missing. They describe a world desperate to escape reality and live in the place they thought they were in prior to all this.

During the election, Premier Smith was asked if "Albertans can trust what you say" in regards to her "Public Health Care Guarantee"
She assured listeners that "We will not be asking people to pay out of pocket for surgical services"
Danielle Smith's words are worthless

Tomorrow is the last day of school.
Many students are having big feelings about this.
The ones who will need the most love will likely be asking for it in the most unloving ways.
Love them.
Love them.
Love them.
Extend grace.

Lately, life has been pretty hard.
I don’t think people realize how lonely chronic illness can be.
I’m not talking about being physically alone. I’m talking about the kind of loneliness that comes from living a life that almost no one around you truly understands.
I can tell people where it hurts.
I can explain my symptoms.
I can list every diagnosis I have.
But I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to explain what it actually feels like to wake up every morning wondering what kind of body I’m going to get that day.
I’m tired of saying “I’m okay.”
I’m tired of downplaying everything.
I’m exhausted from trying to put words to something that has to be lived to be understood.
Sometimes I wish I had one person I could sit across from who would just say, “I know exactly what you mean.”
Sometimes this loneliness feels heavier than the illness itself.
A Calgary noise bylaw got Danielle Smith's attention faster than the voter list data leak exposing the private information of three million Albertans.
Just sit with that for a minute.
I completely agree with this. The priority now is more HCW's.
Canada's public healthcare system is drowning. Adding private care is analogous to to tossing it an anchor.
It won't survive if we do this now.
Distraction.
Noise bylaws. Culture wars. Symbolic fights.
Anything but the deficit, healthcare, and accountability.
When a government wants to avoid talking about rising debt, healthcare failures, independence and ethics questions, it helps to keep everyone arguing about the outrage of the day.

Our government professes to be doing Bill 11 to improve access to care and shorten wt lists.
Below are 5 countries where this was tried and didn't work.
Add to that failures in MB and AB (radiology open access).
There are no successes. Only failures. /1
It would be a good time to remind ALL Albertans that this Premier and this government does NOT have a mandate for what they are doing to fair and equitable HC Access.
They ran on a Public Health Guarantee.
The Premier lied, and simply cannot be trusted.
The Question They Didn't Want Answered - And Why It Matters Even More Today
This is one of the more revealing exchanges I've had in Question Period.
I asked straightforward questions about government decision-making, lobbying, and conflicts of interest involving the Premier.
Instead of answers, I was met with interruptions, insults, and repeated attempts to shut down the discussion.
Watch closely.
Ask yourself: Why was this question so difficult to answer? And why were they so determined to prevent it from being asked?
Since this exchange, Albertans have witnessed controversy after controversy involving sole-source contracts, procurement practices, government appointments, and questions of transparency and accountability.
And now, AHS has been ordered by the courts to turn over documents to law enforcement.
That development makes this exchange even more relevant.
The details may change, but the pattern remains the same.
When legitimate questions are raised, this government dodges responsibility.
Too often we see deflection, obstruction, and theatrics.
Question Period exists for one reason: accountability.
Albertans deserve answers, not excuses.
Watch this exchange and decide for yourself whether this is the standard of government Alberta deserves.

Every neurodivergent woman I know has at least one friendship she thought would last forever that ended so abruptly it still feels like a missing stair in her house.
