Last night we said goodbye to another Manchester legend. On a sunny day when you can’t move in Castlefield for people, Dad would always remind us of the opening night at Dukes, when no one turned up. Thank you for your vision Jim, I’m sure Dad has a drink waiting for you up there
A great Salfordian has passed, & all of Manchester is poorer. Jim Ramsbottom died last night. The bookmaker who backed Castlefield & kickstarted urban renewal made the greatest individual contribution. One hand in waist band, one on fag, mane of silver hair atop quick mind. Gone.
Fellow architects/ surveyors. I highly recommend listen to the BBC Grenfell Inquiry podcast.
Its easy to digest and understand. It shows how many failings there were & how easy things can snowball.
This inquiry can help us all to be better.

Heartbreaking read this morning. I worked with the costume department in 2011 and they are such a talented team. The Royal Exchange is a rare example of in house theatre production which cannot be lost.
@JennaFJohnston @HallRescue@loena @heritageatrisk @nationaltrust@HistoricEngland Saw this tweet earlier. It also winds me up when people dig up old articles to suit their agenda now. This DM article is dated May 2019.
The @nationaltrust is researching its places' links to four centuries of British colonialism.
Transatlantic slavery is a shared history and its terrible effects are still being felt
