@AbdulElSayed Born and raised in Dearborn Hts. So are you saying someone like myself doesn’t deserve to have their pain treated? It’s a nightmare getting RX here. Ppl like me are treated so poorly
So let me get this straight, Suboxone isn't substituting one drug for another when it literally is the very definition. Suboxone, even when misusing it, diverting it, shooting it up, putting it in their eyeballs or tush is still active recovery, and Kratom IS substituting one drug for another, and even when thousands tell you they take a small amount a few times a day, and it saved their lives, it's active addiction?
Do you people hear yourselves? Sure thing, keep blaming the Sacklers while Indivior is doing much worse and you celebrate it.
You can give Suboxone for free with the daily newspaper and many people will still not want it. Not for pain, not for "addiction." Why is that? Why don't you ask the people who don't want it? Oh, right, you don't care about what they have to say about it.
I can’t imagine the loss that these families and this community are experiencing. My heart truly goes out to everyone affected. At the same time, it’s so important that we rely on factual information and avoid jumping to conclusions, because doing so can have real consequences for the people who rely on natural kratom. Thank you, Cherie, for sharing your story. It was an absolute pleasure meeting you.
As a Saltillo resident and mother of an Ole Miss student, Cherie Carrillo understands the grief felt across the campus community. She also knows how pure leaf kratom restored her quality of life after years of battling debilitating iron-deficiency anemia.

@Botanist_Beauty So many of us already have to deal with so much everyday and it only adds to the struggle to have to constantly fight to keep something that gives us a decent quality of life legal.
THIS is what PURE LEAF KRATOM does for MILLIONS of Americans including myself. Unless, you are in the same boat stuck with a chronic PERMANENT condition you really are no position to judge or police how CPP survive the struggle to keep quality of life and effective pain control intact. Peace.
It's ME! Thank you for holding this press conference to ensure people are educated on the distinction between kratom and the synthetic products. Lumping them together is only causing confusion and consumers who rely on it are getting stuck in the middle of the media misinformation and laws that are based off of misinformation.
Kratom means a lot to me.. I was glad to have the opportunity to voice the importance of distinguishing natural kratom products from the chemically manipulated products containing 7oh, pseudoindoxyl , MGM 15 and 16... These products are absolutely NOT the same thing!
Continuing to lump these products together causes confusion not just with consumers but lawmakers.

You keep using death as the finish line for product safety. That is not the standard Congress established.
Under the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, as amended by DSHEA, a dietary supplement is adulterated if it “presents a significant or unreasonable risk of illness or injury” under its recommended conditions of use—or ordinary conditions when the label provides none. That is 21 U.S.C. § 342(f)(1)(A). The statute does not require a body count. (https://t.co/yJ1V8HPSpV)
For new dietary ingredients subject to 21 U.S.C. § 350b(a)(2), the law requires a history of use or other safety evidence establishing that the ingredient, under the supplement’s labeled conditions of use, “will reasonably be expected to be safe.” It also requires the manufacturer or distributor to submit the supporting information to FDA at least 75 days before marketing. “You haven’t proven it killed someone” is not a substitute for that evidence. (https://t.co/JyEi4MhQ4W)
FDA states that manufacturers and distributors are “responsible for evaluating the safety and labeling of their products before marketing.” Before marketing—not after enough people have been harmed to settle an argument on social media. (https://t.co/rU3I1P7V9W)
A person can survive a serious injury. An overdose can require emergency treatment without ending in death. Surviving an adverse event does not magically turn it into evidence of safety.
And the allegation of a double standard misses two separate questions: Did a particular product cause a particular death? And does a product meet the applicable safety requirements? A disputed death attribution does not answer the second question. The same evidentiary discipline should apply to both traditional kratom and concentrated 7-OH products.
“Natural” does not automatically mean safe. “Isolated” does not automatically mean safer. And raw death totals, without comparable exposure data and reliable attribution, do not establish comparative risk.
Show the evidence supporting the actual formulation, dose, frequency, and duration of use you are selling. Pointing at another product does not establish the safety of yours.
“It didn’t kill you” is an extraordinarily low bar—and it is not the bar federal supplement law sets.
And before you respond, make it rooted in science and applicable law
Thank you so much for distinguishing between the two. You don’t have to promote kratom use to at least give honest warnings to your citizens about the differences between kratom leaf and the semi-synthetic derivatives like 7OH. This is how a responsible government should dispense information. Thank you.
I have two corrections:
1. Kratom isn’t an extract by definition. It’s the leaf from the tree Mitragyna Speciosa.
2. 7OH products have way more than 500% of the 7OH content than natural kratom. A standard 15mg 7OH tablet has about 16,000% more 7OH in it than a standard 3g dose of kratom powder.
