Adults in Canada engage in sedentary behaviour for an average of approximately 10 hours each day, with only 12 percent meeting sedentary behaviour guidelines. High rates of sedentary behaviour are associated with CVD, diabetes, cancer, depression and anxiety.
@CTJumpstart Do you have any tips for how can we keep children and youth motivated to participate in physical activity this summer, especially when they are surrounded by technology (phones, ipads, etc.)?
@DrNadolsky Do you have any tips for encouraging patients who are unmotivated to adopt these healthier habits, especially after losing weight with only these medications?
Completely agree with this tweet. I find that seminars and interactive lectures allow me to more actively engage in course content, retaining more of the information. This concept closely relates to the ideas of social constructivists! #EM203Robin
Conventional wisdom says a quiet classroom is a productive one. 🤫 But to unlock the power of social learning, you need to get students talking about the content! Here are 3 strategies to try.
These first lessons in EM203 have taught me a variety of new learning methods. I understand how different people process new information in unique ways. I also learned how the internet has greatly impacted the learning process for the our generation of students #EM203Robin
@emm_EM203 I found myself thinking about my own learning process during this course so far... I often gravitate towards text over audio and visual representations. Maybe if I incorporate a wider range of methods, the facts will stick with me more this semester!
@RussellEM203 As a 4th year, I find that students in younger years have much more experience using tech methods in learning. While I hope to advance my own knowledge in this regard, I am also excited that my future kids will have a more advanced learning experience. Do you agree?
@BrookeWanner Me too! I hadn't used twitter much prior to this class, but I am enjoying connecting with peers. One thing I have realized is that staying up to date on current events has become increasingly more convenient in the 21st century!
@EM203MUrumath Agreed, I am glad I took this course! Hoping to increase the amount of time I use technology for organization in 2024, and decrease the amount of time I spend online shopping :( Excel tips would be much appreciated!
I am enjoying reading about how the rise of internet use has affected the learning process and the new generations of students. The notes on multi-tasking in lesson three really stuck with me! I shared this experiment with many of my peers. #EM203Robin
