Climandment #1: You shall give one genuine compliment per day. The best compliments are specific – requiring active listening and thoughtful observation. “You look nice today” is not nearly as good as “Those blue converse make your eyes pop like a can of Pringles.”
Special #ThankYouThursday to all the people out there encouraging others. You never know how much a kind word can impact a life.
Just be honest and compliment the good when you see it 💋
We now have a designated greeter in the mornings. Choose how you want to be greeted. Supporting positive culture and well-being @MtAlbion_HWDSB ! @HWDSB
#ThoughtForTheDay When it comes to working w/students who are struggling try & think long term. Many are just testing a system that has failed them many times over long before you came into the picture...via #Culturize
#ThoughtForTheDay What if we took time as educators to ask students & teachers the following Q. If you became the teacher or principal today, what is the first change you would make & why? I am curious the responses this Q would elicit...via #culturize
On morning meetings: “Before any learning can take place, the students really need to feel safe, feel like they’re seen, and feel like they’re cared about.”
Let's teach our students that challenge is a normal part of learning. Read this article on teaching the importance of effort in your classroom! (ES 0.77) https://t.co/jT6PVahL0D
Something I love about strong school culture: it builds capacity… capacity to adapt and to grow. We don’t know what the future holds, and we can’t always predict what our students will need. But the right school culture will make it possible for us to rise to the challenge.
Teachers can't "flip a switch" and turn their Teacher brain off when they are at home. Teaching is life-consuming! Unlike other professions, Teaching is more than mental, but Heart work! Kids stay on your Heart and Mind at all times! You can't turn it off! It's who you are!
Tomorrow pull your toughest kid aside & listen to him or her w no expectations. Ask questions w/out trying to get something from them or change something about them. Simply listen to them. #edchat#kidsdeserveit
