i was today years old when i found out that working through covid would prolong symptoms. even working from home. bc “powering through” apparently makes the brain fog worse. and prolonged symptoms leads to long covid, and we don’t know those long effects.
Lean into the discomfort of tearing down white supremacy as we create an inclusive, multi-racial/generational nation that centers humanity. White supremacy is so normalized that we all feel impacted & discomfort when it’s falling down. Lean into the struggle of creating change.
Especially white Americans don’t like to hear it, but we got to the “coup” stage of fascism because we didn’t impeach at the concentration camps, cages, family separations, beatings, gassing, disappearances. Fascism’s a pattern of escalation and nobody tried to really break it
Lately, I find everything to be sad, boring and terrifying. It’s not even interesting anymore, just exhausting. I know it won’t always be like this, but damn, it’s been like this for so long.
I recorded this Wednesday, and it has been sitting with me. I was hit with tear gas earlier this year during protests, and to hear Louisville Police threaten chemical agents on a community crying out for justice is unspeakable.
Chemical agents should be banned from police use.
She was used for everything. Used to promote everything. Used to make people look good and socially conscious. Used to promote parties. Used for memes. Used as an example. Used and used and used. And even with all of this, she didn’t get the one thing she needed. Justice.
We must fully fund public safety.
That means we prioritize people and our communities, addressing poverty, healthcare, lack of resources, crumbling infrastructure, housing, education, and the deep ills of structural racism.
Increasing budgets for police doesn’t do any of this.
