Yesterday I showed up at Luzira court to stand in solidarity with Hon. Matembe and the beauty is that we all left the court premises as happy Ugandans because of the bail granted.
Thank you members of Uganda Women's movement for the solidarity.
All the best Eunice, it's been nice serving with you as a colleague and mentor. I wish you all the best in your next journey, I will forever celebrate you.
The Board of Akina Mama wa Afrika (AMwA) announces that Eunice Musiime will step down as Executive Director, effective 30th May 2026, after 10 years of visionary, feminist, and transformative leadership.
Eunice has led AMwA with brilliance, courage, and unwavering feminist commitment. Under her leadership, AMwA has strengthened its role as a Pan-African feminist leadership development organisation, supporting women leaders through the African Women’s Leadership Institute (AWLI), advancing women’s political participation, SRHR, and championing economic and social justice across the continent.
The AMwA board has appointed Carmeliza Rosario and Sarah Nannyondo Okello, both nestled in the soul and rhythm of AMwA's work, as interim co-directors for nine months.
Transitions are part of the rhythm of feminist organising. Eunice’s departure is not an ending, but a continuation of the collective journey. Her leadership has left AMwA stronger, more resilient, and more deeply rooted in African feminist wisdom.
We invite our partners, allies and sisters across the continent and the diaspora to join us in celebrating Eunice Musiime’s extraordinary contribution.
Congratulations Akina Mama wa Afrika upon making to 40 years of weaving feminist futures, mentoring thousands of women and keeping the fires burning as we carry on the legacies of those whose footsteps we follow. As an alumna, I am proud of AMwA.
