@emmajolly & there goes another family legend debunked - no we are not of Huguenot descent. In fact it was William Cordeaux’s wife, Ann Moore who had the Huguenot “ connection” through her father, under Sheriff of London who knew Huguenots from his time in France
@emmajolly Somewhat amusing - Cordukes in Crambe Yorkshire when William was born in 1792. His father, Richard became a veterinarian in the Yorkshire Hussars & by the time his son became AssistantDeputy Commissioner in Sydney in 1818, they had “evolved” to Cordeaux 😂
@Dave_Lifelines @CarolBirchall I mean if only we didn’t already have snip function permanently on our PC’s toolbar that we have been using to snip for many years…..
@AllThoseBefore@PostedInThePast And this one of Iris & Vi is captioned from the Blue Bay boxes - which in our family , we know is boxes in Aunty Marge’s attic
@AllThoseBefore@PostedInThePast But also should reference the custodian of the original which also helps to verify the accuracy of who the photo is eg this photo of my Grandma in 1928 - I caption with original held by Iris’ son Ian
@hipstergeddon I’m sure its equivalent to me rear loading via the stairs at gate 24 in Melbourne on Monday - amazingly - I was able to do that even though I don’t have airside ASIC
@Dave_Lifelines Yes & it’s really annoying because newspaper searches bring up a whole bunch of Cordeaux Dams when I just want the references to actual people
@AllThoseBefore AOM is an outstanding achievement. I am now starting to be of an age where I personally know a couple of recipients & they are fine people who highly deserved their award
@CameronSpaldin3@DrJessTaylor And being a pessimist, so many marriages end on divorce & now her moment in the sun is tarnished by the ex until the end of time
