@ERCOT_ISO Our https://t.co/CUzgszkJ2r will also reflect the rotating outages.

[ERCOT @ERCOT_ISO]

#ERCOT set a new winter peak demand record this evening, reaching 69,150 MW between 6 and 7 p.m. This is more than 3,200 MW higher than the previous winter peak set back in January 2018. Thanks to everyone who has been conserving today. We appreciate it! #conserve #saveenergy

[Austin Energy @austinenergy]

⚠️Rotating outages are starting! ⚠️
ERCOT has declared an Energy Emergency Alert (EEA) Level 3. Austin Energy, along with utilities across the state, have been instructed to begin rotating outages because there is not enough power available to keep up with consumer demand.

[Chamath Palihapitiya @chamath]

This inability to scale vaccine rollout shows, at the same time, the potential value of gvt and the incompetence of current government leadership.

Money doesn’t fix this.

We need to figure out why smarter people and simpler laws aren’t being allowed to do the obvious.

.⁦@RadioFreeTom⁩: “It’s clear now that far too many of Trump’s voters don’t care about policy, decency, or saving our democracy. They care about power. “ https://t.co/U9TOEOeqpt

[Michael Gerson @MJGerson]

To be clear, what Trump is doing — trashing the electoral system — is not a future threat to democracy. Not a potential threat to democracy. It is an unfolding attack on democracy. It is not just Trump venting. It is Trump corrupting and diminishing every institution he touches.

📣 We need your help. This is the post we hoped to never write, but today marks a huge turning point in The Strand's history. Our revenue has dropped nearly 70% compared to last year, and the loans and cash reserves that have kept us afloat these past months are depleted.
