High School science teacher, former electrical engineer. NGSS, STEM, and EdTech nerd! Hitched up my wagon last summer and headed West to teach in Tacoma!
@E_Van_Mama @DingleTeach @AbbyTeachesDSM@IllustrateMath The iOS icon for the clock app is an image of an analog clock face AND its a live icon, so the hands move and display the analog time in real time. Also you’d be surprised how many directions involving turning use clockwise/counterclockwise!
@stevegoforth5 @teachergrind It’s not just extra time for practice, they’ll go really deep into those concepts, get into extended applications of it, and connections to other math concepts. A deeper understanding can allow you to apply it to problems you weren’t explicitly taught how to solve.
@gigglefritz_@teachergrind Even if the teacher doesn’t “hate” math, most elementary teachers aren’t math experts with truly deep understanding of the full k-12 spectrum of the content or the significance of (or ability to identify) misconceptions that kids carry forward.
The Floofs have not been pleased by my return to a five day work week … but still happily greet me every time I return home. #lifewithtwofloofs @ Tacoma, Washington https://t.co/Eb9m208Dxn
@hilaryagro@ndrew_lawrence Her son didn’t need a curriculum to teach him to identify as black … pretty sure at least one of his classmates made sure he knew he wasn’t also white “like them”. Because … middle schoolers.
@bobbytg1stu@ndrew_lawrence They also hear about “Culturally Responsive Teaching” and think “it MUST be Critical Race Theory because CRT” because they have absolutely no idea what both are and then get uncomfortable if they have to think about FACTS about US history and current systems.
@justlynnagain@kendallybrown@ndrew_lawrence Does his mom ACTUALLY believe that her son could have gone through middle school surrounded by mostly white fellow middle schoolers and NEVER heard a racist or derogatory comment from ANY of his classmates? Doubt it was the curriculum that had him “identifying as a black man”

@bockanalia I’ve been going in to school early this week because of AP ... hate teaching remotely from my classroom ... the day is crazy long and stressful without breaks with the Floofs!!!!
@grantruby@TMobile Got to take part in presentations by T-Mobile this summer as part of the WABS Access STEM project. That was already impressive and this just makes me that much happier to be a long time T-Mobile customer!
