@johnpauldickson@jchasedavis Fair Question. Our family talks about this a lot. Men & women are both to be courageous for example, but because of sex differences & contexts this usually manifests itself in different ways. But if someone can, please name a virture that is just for a man or just for a woman.
@HeatherMJames3@mauddweeb When Marc was alive I handled all the finances and set up a budget after it became apparent he didn't care or think about money. H tried to care, but his heart wasn't in it. I got us to a good place, so I am enjoying financial peace (if not riches) in widowhood.
@ScienceFocusonX I use dual focus contact lenses. They work great. seems like they are about the same price as the drops if you don’t cheat and wear your one a day lenses more than one day.
@UpTambourine Peace is also part of the Nouthetic Counseling movement which I have found can be extremely harmful in certain circumstances. They sincerely believe they have found the biblical formula, but it is often just one group's legalistic proof-texting of problems that need more wisdom
@UpTambourine I got into the habit of overdoing the serving of my husband. Is that possible? I was trying to love him well. He was oblivious and didn't even realize it. It created a pattern that was detrimental to our marriage. He was a good man, just not wired to notice the imbalance.
@BuckSexton@JackPosobiec I’m not sure how much of it is the company training, but it is wise hiring. I know in our area they employ a ton of Christian homeschooled teenagers. Those kids are taught to be polite by their parents from an early age.
Are Greg Gifford and ACBC Really the Sufficient Standard for Who Is a Biblical Counselor? https://t.co/82o7ZBNFlD Did you know that Bob Kellemen “is an outsider to biblical counseling”? Did you know that CIBCers are not truly biblical counselors? #BibleCn#BiblicalCounseling
@Didnotcomplynd @HeatherMJames3 Those are beautiful thoughts. We too believe that when we receive communion we are celebrating Christ with the invisible church, all Christians past and present. It is a unifying means of grace that is a foreshadowing of the Lamb’s High Feast.
@HeatherMJames3 All these prayers and words of encouragement mean so much to me! Today God has filled me with thanksgiving for the wonderful years I had with Marc and the children we raised together.
These pages are written by John and Janie Street in their 2016 book Counseling Women. I don't think John or Janie would describe themselves as clinically-informed biblical counselors. I don't know either of them personally, but I suspect they would critique CIBC.
(4) The method found in that tool is not taught in Scripture directly; however, the counselor has evaluated the elements in it as a helpful common grace resource. There's no pitting of tool vs. Scripture against one another. Rather, the tool serves the end of glorifying God.
(2) Carla is portrayed both as a sufferer and as an active moral agent. She is responsible for her behaviors. Understanding physiological difficulty doesn't make Carla's heart less of a priority in counseling.
(1) Use of a PET scan to detect some abnormality in brain function. This scan doesn't comment on the etiology of the problem, but it does indicate that there is some kind of physiological aspect to the trouble.
