@crogers_htown It's not actually a high-trust society really. They trust people to follow the rules, structure, do the expected thing, but outside of that, there isn't trust.
@learning_yohei A lot of Katakana words are from American English. A part of me does every time I have to say エレベーター. But they are wrong, it's called a Lift. There is no such thing as British English - just actual English, or American English.
@realmaikasan Ha, had a Spanish guy stop me in Shinjuku yesterday to ask where somewhere was. I helped me find it, showed him the route. He was very thankful & said "No one speaks English here so I'm happy you helped". これは日本だから...
@ShitpostRock I mean, anything outside of your route (bar Nagasaki) is lesser known and we'll worth it. See more of Kyushu and Shikoku...40 days is a long time to just do what most other tourists do.
@CacheThatCheque It's a ripple effect. Tourists go to a big resorts like Niseko or Hakuba. Don't like the crowds. Find a smaller resorts. Then another smaller resort...cheap yen means they keep coming back. Met Americans & Europeans last year just here to ski. Locals getting priced out.
@writerofscratch The negative comments to people about not getting PR are usually from either people who got PR years ago when it was quick & easy ("I had no problem, so you shouldn't either") or people who don't live in Japan ("I can't live there, so you shouldn't be able to either").
@GearoidReidy Often find the glib "Japan doesn't owe you PR" is usually said by people who got their PR a long time ago when it was quick & easy. I think the OP has a right to be upset about this tbh.
@The_Bladesman Agree with you, but look at the signings. Bringing in anyone else & you can see the players being unable to adapt like they did for Slav & Selles. Hecky only worked because he was part of the club & changed things slowly. Lessons haven't been learnt.
@KopFinest Still hurts. We finished 14 points clear of them. With a total that usually gets you automatic promoted. Awful VAR decision in the final.
They've certainly made the most of their luck, whereas we would have been straight back down.
@TheFLZone No. Shouldn't have been sacked after finished 3rd, but would have gone later that season anyway. Board made an error with Selles & no seem scared to try anything adventurous. Wilder has been left behind in tactics & recruitment.
@CacheThatCheque Blanket approach to everyone isn't the right answer though. The increased costs & waiting times will put off people who Japan should be aiming to keep on the country. Should be a fast-track route if you have the point after 1/3 years to PR, like other countries.
@PaulEmbery Like the constant Glastonbury promotion as the "best festival ever" so they can sell out at £425 a ticket, while every other festival is mostly ignored.
