@silagechopper Bought my 2nd sound guard yesterday, a 4050 MFWD. I’m 28 and my first tractor was a 4840 I bought at 19 to pull a hay wagon. Happily a cult member.
@FoulkShay Have had 3 Polaris Rangers and now 1 Can Am Defender on the farm/ranch. As far as repairs and holding up in tough conditions, the Can Am pummels the Polaris. Only downside is the fuel tank is kinda small compared to Polaris and you need fender flares on the Can Am.
We’ve got some action! Trending in the right direction 👍 over the last couple days we’ve had banamine, Nuflor, smz pills, and a 5hr energy with an electrolyte drench on top of the normal milk.
Trying the ole 2 shots of espresso & vitamin B to get this calf back up & going. Hadn’t nursed for 24hrs during the storm and is just pretty worn out and not wanting to try. Also tubed twice with mother’s milk and electrolytes. Any other remedies out there? Retweets appreciated!
@agronomistryan1@KeatonHeller The vet recommended 5 hr Energy actually. Unfortunately the local C store is closed for Easter so had to make do with what we had! Might have to see if we have some multi min around the med cabinet! Thanks 🙏
@MatthewCKrueger@NickHorob Just bought a GMC 3/4 ton from Wilhelms in Jamestown. Got the wife’s blazer there as well. Had good experiences both times. Also had good results with Aberdeen Chrysler if you’re not a GM fella.
@Qshizzle97 Grain Saver drags in Chief Bins are the absolute worst in our opinion. Shovel is pretty busy in those. The Springland’s in Sioux bins have been much better.
Our local FFA chapter had their FFA week breakfast this morning for the community. Spent some time looking through the old chapter scrapbooks.
In the early 1970’s a large majority of the members had legit livestock operations. Not just a couple show animals for the county fair, but real and profitable herds bred for meat production. A way to learn animal husbandry, business acumen, and work ethic.
Now our entire county is fencerow to fencerow two crops - corn and soybeans. All the hogs are in concrete buildings owned by 3 or 4 different corporations, and the towns have shriveled up.
I can’t help but think we’ve lost the plot.
In the quest for maximum efficiency, we’ve extracted all the value from our own communities. Truck in fertilizer and chemicals by the semi load, haul off the animals hundreds of miles away for processing. The mom and pop tractor dealership who took care of their employees and customers is now part of a 30 store corporate chain.
All for maximal efficiency. Extract extract extract.
