@Nerdwiththehat I give it 5/10 so far. Improving.
Good:
My Threads acct can be followed on Mastodon
People there can like and reply to my posts
I see them in my Threads notifs. Can like their replies.
Bad:
Cannot yet reply to Mastodon replies
Cannot follow people from Mastodon on Threads
Thinking of leaving this place? My go-to recently has been:
Post on Threads. Enable Fediverse within Threads, meaning your posts auto share to people on Mastodon (who can like and boost and reply, as can people on Threads).
Covers 2 of 3 main replacements, without cross posting
Current status quo:
Threads: most brands and normies. It’s not great, but has the biggest audience.
Mastodon: lots of nerds. Which is both good and bad. Literally zero brands or normies.
Bluesky: closest to Twitter if you only keep those obsessed with Twitter. Fairly small.
I know it sucks moving to a new social network, especially when they're fragmented so you can't always find your exact community.
But I'm pleased to say both Mastodon and Threads are now sufficiently active to work as a Twitter replacement, for many groups.
If I can help anyone I follow on here get active on Threads or Mastodon, happy to give any advice.
As someone who's starting to write again (https://t.co/PgYxYF8kJh) - I hear ya. It's a bloody pain having so many places to put things. But the tide is turning.
digging your heels in with TWITTER IS MY FAVE AND I DON'T WANT TO GO ANYWHERE ELSE unfortunately won't change the trajectory of this place
It won't happen overnight, but building a safety net(work) elsewhere is smart if you don't think EIøn is a genius
#Curiology (EMOJI) is up and it’s a BANGER. Skulls! Drool! Laugh-crying! Eggplants! Three experts, 2 parts + plenty of context, trivia, & origin stories to get you hyped up for #WorldEmojiDay on 7/17 w/ @jeremyburge, @jenniferdaniel & @KeithBroni.
