In 2018 I was working for someone else, living at home, and single.
Today, I own 3 businesses, a home with rental income, and I am happily married.
This is the summary of how it happened 👇
1 - 2 times a year I like to do a brain dump.
I use a blank piece of printer paper and write down everything that’s on my mind. To do’s, ideas, projects, chores around the house, etc.
It’s so helpful taking the list from my head and putting it on paper.
Oh and an update on our newest Inventory: Patio Heaters.
We bought 8 of these in September for about $5k and they have already generated $15,810.
They store nicely and are an easy add-on for existing orders.
Looking to find more low-hanging fruit like this in 2024.
Lastly, I'm going to get out of the office more to get new clients. Dropping in at venues, taking clients out to lunch, bringing them gifts etc. I started doing this in August of this year and saw immediate benefits. In 2024, I plan to do this consistently.
In 2022 we definitely were in a COVID boom for the events industry. That year it felt like we were flush with cash and there was SO much demand for events that we were able to be very selective.
At the time, it felt too good to be true and I knew it wouldn't always be so easy.
Marketing - We recently started investing in Google ads for the first time. I've been working with @jim_fanara who's a wizard.
Running Lean - This year we got pretty flexible with spending. We will be reviewing finances weekly to close up loose ends.
We just added on 8 heaters. The cost was $5k (these are really high quality) and we have already generated $8,215 with more open quotes in the queue.
Our software tracks revenue for all of our inventory, here's a snapshot.
Want to know something cool about a rental business?
If you want to add a new inventory item, you can put it on your website and send it out to your email list before buying it. Clients will book it and THEN you can buy it using their deposit.
@brianluebben This is just from the rental business. Our pool business is struggling a bit. Aren't really growing, just sorta maintaining. Our staging business is doing great! We've grown a ton this year. I have business partners on that one so I can't share the numbers.
We just completed one of our busiest weeks of business history. Here are the numbers:
Revenue: $48,722.87
Labor: $6,853.41
Truck Rentals/Gas: $2,164
Gross Profit: $39,705.46
@ChrisGoals I think we are doing these numbers because of our established relationships with repeat customers, our reputation in the industry, and reviews.
