Over the past 3 months, I’ve heard from consumers, boards, realtors & brokers who’ve lost confidence in Ontario’s real estate regulator.

Our government is taking action to restore trust and to protect Ontarians.

Today, I directed that an administrator assume control of RECO immediately to restore confidence in the organization, to work with the insurer, and to support those financially impacted.

Today I issued a formal letter to the chair of the board of the Real Estate Council of Ontario.

Following my review of the Dentons report on RECO’s handling of the iPro matter, I have notified RECO’s Board of my intention to appoint an administrator to restore public confidence and protect consumers.

We will take decisive action to ensure accountability and to protect Ontarians who count on our real estate sector.

Today I issued a formal letter to the Real Estate Council of Ontario.

I am currently reviewing Denton’s report on RECO’s handling of the iPro matters. Once my review is complete, as stated in my previous letter, RECO will release the findings publicly.

Throughout this process, our government will work to restore public confidence by strengthening consumer protection and enhancing transparency in Ontario’s real estate sector.
