The NBA announced today that 38 players have notified the league that they wish to be removed from the list of “early entry” players eligible for selection in the NBA Draft 2026. Following the NBA’s early entry withdrawal deadline of 5 p.m. ET on June 13, 2026, the NBA will announce the list of any additional players who provide the NBA with timely notice that they wish to be removed from the list of “early entry” players eligible for selection in the NBA Draft 2026.
I have mixed feelings about the reform but this piece of the rules still doesn’t really make sense to me. If the solution to curb tanking is just to make everything more random then I don’t see the real value in arbitrarily placing extra controls on the randomness
Sources said the Grizzlies voted against the new lottery reform solely because of the new rule disallowing a team from picking top 5 in 3 consecutive years. As @BobbyMarks42 says, the Grizzlies have the more favorable 2027 first-rounder of Cleveland, Minnesota and Utah, and because the Jazz again have a top-5 pick this year, their first in 2027 cannot be in the top-5 under new rules.
Breaking: The NBA's Board of Governors has passed new anti-tanking rules that include expanding the draft lottery from 14 to 16 teams, a relegation zone where the bottom 3 teams get penalized with lessened chances for the No. 1 pick, and flattened odds, sources tell ESPN.
Vanderbilt All-SEC point guard Tyler Tanner has withdrawn from the NBA Draft and decided to return to Vanderbilt, he tells ESPN. He earned honorable mention All-American honors last year, averaging 19.5 points and 5.1 assists per game.
BREAKING: Former Iowa State forward Milan Momcilovic is withdrawing from the NBA draft and returning to college, his agents @excelbasketball told me and @PeteThamel. Momcilovic, the best shooter in the country, is the No. 1 player in the transfer portal and remains uncommitted.
Had to imagine someone would take advantage of all the CBB returners and stay in to ensure they'd get picked.
Didn't think it'd be a 20-year-old like Richmond with major CBB earnings potential over the next three years and very little chance of going in the first round, though.
Allen will be in the first-round mix again to start next season. Think this was ultimately the right call — needs to show some growth on the offensive end to help his case next year.
NBA draft deadline day! College players have until 11:59 p.m. ET to withdraw and maintain their eligibility.
Notable stay-or-go decisions to watch:
Koa Peat
Meleek Thomas
Amari Allen
Tounde Yessoufou
Tyler Tanner
Milan Momcilovic
Jeremy Fears
Andrej Stojakovic
Billy Richmond
NEWS: Texas Tech’s Christian Anderson, a third-team All-American last season, is keeping his name in the NBA draft, his agent Aaron Mintz of CAA Basketball told ESPN. Recent feedback from the Combine & pre-draft workouts reaffirmed Anderson’s status as a projected top 15-20 pick.
