This is what makes it all worthwhile. There is nothing more fulfilling than knowing you have positively impacted someone's life.
The screenshot below is a message I have just received about one of the prospective African students applying for the MEXT Scholarship to study in Japan. I'm delighted that he has successfully passed the embassy interview, which is one of the most important stages of the selection process.
Wishing him every success in the remaining steps of the journey.

It's no longer hearsay. It appears President Mnangagwa and his allies are determined to cling to power for as long as possible.
This amounts to a constitutional coup aimed at weakening democratic institutions and undermining the will of the people.
However long a log stays in the river, it will never become a crocodile.
The "unpredictable" and ever-changing nature of our African politics is nothing short of dismay.
Slightly over a decade ago, when Zimbabwe adopted its new constitution in 2013, a process in which President Emmerson Mnangagwa was actively involved, and later when he was elected president in 2018 following the coup of the previous year, he presented himself as a committed "constitutionalist". Today, however, things appear different.
While he has publicly maintained that he respects the two-term limit and has at times stated that he has no intention of extending his rule beyond his current term ending in 2028, the signals coming from ZANU-PF, the ruling party he leads, suggests otherwise.
It is only now, it seems, that arguments are emerging which frame the popular vote as a source of violence and toxic presidential campaigns that often result in disputed results. Even the five-year constitutional term is being portrayed as insufficient.
Yet Zimbabwe’s constitution is explicit that any such changes must be effected through a referendum. But the proponents of constitutional amendments appear determined to bypass this requirement.
What is even more concerning is the growing possibility that such approaches may be adopted or replicated in other so-called “strong” democratic African countries, such as in Kenya's post 2027 elections.
It is time to awake!

It is difficult to even imagine that Africa, a continent with the most mineral deposits and projected to have the largest and youngest working-age population globally by the mid-2030s, is also considered chronically the poorest continent, contributing less than 3% of global GDP.
While it is considerably true that, more recently, we have witnessed progressive intervention efforts, among the many issues that plague Africa is overbearing, and often times exploitative, religion.
We need a renaissance and a collective shift in our continental focus!
We are plunging madly within the grasp of the whirlpool of selfish interests disguised as patriotism. Deep down, the leaders of the Matatu Owners Association knows what they did behind closed doors. As always, it's the ordinary mwananchi that is left to bear the burden. Oh God, the ship that is our beloved Kenya is quivering... we are going down!
Congratulations!
This is from one of the applicants who responded to a job opportunity we shared not so long ago through ANASJA platforms.
After successfully going through several rigorous rounds of independent interviews conducted by a Japanese company, he has finally received a job offer.
We are truly delighted and shall continue scouting for and sharing opportunities whenever they arise.

Today, I would like to share an opportunity for anyone currently seeking employment.
I understand that many people are going through difficult times, and I sincerely hope that in your efforts, you may secure a good opportunity.
I am not endorsing or being paid to promote this company. However, I am sharing this because, first, it is a company that gave me a valuable opportunity to grow immediately after my bachelor’s graduation. Second, I have recommended several people there who, nearly four years later, are still working with the company and continuing to grow professionally.
The company is Achieve Test Prep, a US-based company that offers diverse fully remote opportunities for qualified candidates from different parts of the world. You can find the currently open positions through the link below.

As Africa continues to rethink and reshape its relationship with international stakeholders, the winds of change are steadily redefining our continent’s development agenda.
During the recent Tokyo International Conference on African Development 9 high-level engagements held in Yokohama and attended by several African Heads of State, there was a clear and important shift in focus. The discussions emphasized the need to move beyond the traditional one-directional aid model towards genuine co-creation and mutually beneficial partnerships between Africa and Japan.
In line with this growing vision, I am pleased to share that I have been invited as a guest speaker at the upcoming Africa Business Forum, where I will speak on the topic: Accelerating Business through Co-creation with African Talent. The event will take place on May 29th in Tokyo, Japan.
It is time for us, as Africans, to continue changing our beloved continent narrative by moving beyond dependency-driven conversations and positioning Africa as an active contributor to global innovation, enterprise, and sustainable development.

Since the currently open, embassy-recommended MEXT 2027 scholarship for prospective African students is country-specific (with varying deadlines for each African country and possibly different requirements from country to country), I encourage all prospective African applicants interested in studying in Japan to explore their local Japanese embassy website to familiarize themselves with the requirements and access the application documents.
Take note that most Japanese embassies in various African countries have already officially announced the MEXT 2027 scholarship, with deadlines around mid to late May 2026. As the Alumni Network of ex-Japan scholars, we plan to conduct an online information and application guidance session in the next few days, where previous beneficiaries of the MEXT scholarship will provide insights and general support to prospective students. We shall communicate the official date of the seminar soon.

What's the point? It is economically misleading to compare fuel prices between Kenya and London.
How can we ignore the massive disparities in income levels (GDP per capita), purchasing power, infrastructure development, etc.
Londoners simply have significantly higher average incomes to absorb high costs that is incomparable to most Kenyans.
Let us be honest with ourselves!
It has been almost a year since I took part in the high-level consultative discussion on the Youth Economic Agenda at the World Bank Head Office in Tokyo, Japan.
As the continent with the youngest population (median age: 19 years) in the world, Africa faces a critical job crisis, with over 600 million young people expected to join the workforce over the next 25 years, according to the World Bank.
Without urgent investment in skills, infrastructure, and job creation, this "youth bulge" poses a severe risk of social unrest and instability, as the symptoms continue to be experienced in the form of protests across several African countries.
The warning signs are already there. It may not even take 25 years before we experience a full-blown crisis. Therefore, it is time for our African governments to rethink and, as part of aversive measures, prioritize private sector growth and vocational training to transition youths from informal, low-quality work to sustainable jobs.

During TICAD 9, held last year in Yokohama, where nearly 50 African nations participated, including African heads of state, the key outcome of the high-level meeting, premised on the theme "Co-creating Innovative Solutions with Africa," was the need to move towards a mutually beneficial, partnership-driven, and sustainable development model, shifting from aid to mutual growth in technology, TRADE, and infrastructure.
As it stands, Japan (with a population of nearly 120 million and a size of about 377,975 square kilometres) maintains a trade surplus with Africa (with a population of over 1.57 billion people and a size roughly 80 times larger than Japan) of nearly USD 2 billion, with Africa exporting around USD 8.23 billion compared to USD 10.27 billion in imports from Japan as of 2023.
To reverse this trade deficit and drive Africa's industrial development, part of the core strategy is to focus on innovation and selling high-value goods to Japan, which makes this book invaluable.
For those interested in working in Japan, I'm sharing some job websites that could assist.
You can filter the website according to your professional needs and whether they are accepting applicants already in Japan or overseas.
