Eight cameras. 36 frames a second. ~2 billion pieces of information in.
Two numbers out: steer, accelerate.
How do you teach a machine to do that?
I made a 20-min explainer on how Tesla built FSD: 14 ingredients, one flywheel.👇
FSD NEWS 🇩🇪 Germany is considering approving Tesla’s FSD Supervised on its own national territory if an EU-wide consensus cannot be reached 🔥
Transport Minister Steffen Bilger confirmed that while an EU-wide framework remains the ideal route, Germany will explore its own path if European negotiations stall, prioritizing innovation and potential safety gains despite open technical and liability questions.
This unilateral move is legally possible under Article 39(5) of EU Regulation 2018/858, which allows individual member states to adopt provisional technology exemptions already granted by the Dutch vehicle licensing authority (RDW).
Because formal EU committee decisions have been delayed until at least December, taking this step would align Germany with a growing list of nations that have already opted in: 🇳🇱 the Netherlands, 🇧🇪 Belgium, 🇩🇰 Denmark, 🇨🇿 the Czech Republic, 🇪🇪 Estonia, 🇱🇹 Lithuania, and 🇸🇮 Slovenia.
Before giving any green light, the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) plans to conduct independent vehicle tests. German regulators want concrete answers regarding driver-attention safeguards, legal liability, and an identified software flaw that can cause vehicles to exceed posted speed limits.
Going solo, however, comes with a ticking clock and significant legal exposure. If the European Commission ultimately vetoes the broader EU framework, any German national exemption would automatically expire after six months.
While conventional rules allow previously built vehicles to stay registered, it remains entirely unresolved whether Tesla would be legally forced to remotely revoke over-the-air software features from existing owners.
A national approval would also trap the feature inside German borders. Because neighboring transit hubs like France and Austria have not adopted the exemption, German drivers would face a fragmented patchwork where FSD operates domestically but must abruptly disengage the moment they cross an international boundary.
BREAKING: Germany’s transport minister pushes for Tesla FSD approval across Europe.
Speaking today at a Tagesspiegel Background conference in Berlin, Steffen Bilger said:
• He will push for Tesla FSD Supervised to reach drivers across the EU soon.
• He sees potential for FSD to make roads safer and wants to support innovation.
• Germany should explore its own approval route if EU talks fail.
• He will work to ensure that this system can be used throughout Europe soon.

🇩🇪 Germany is pushing for Tesla’s FSD (Supervised) to be approved across Europe!
Key points:
✅ Germany supports a faster approval process
✅ Tesla offered to rename FSD to “Tesla Assisted Driving”
✅ Germany and Tesla agreed on how the system can assist with steering, braking and acceleration while the driver remains responsible
✅ The system may exceed the posted speed limit by up to 10%, depending on the situation
✅ Germany says the system has shown strong performance, particularly in urban environments
🇩🇪 Transport Minister Steffen Bilger:
“My goal is that Tesla drivers can use the benefits of Assisted Driving throughout the EU as quickly as possible.”
A major potential step toward bringing Tesla’s FSD (Supervised) to more European countries.
Imagine saying a Tesla is not a luxury car.
That’s why wealthy people are selling their Bentleys, Range Rovers, G-Wagons, etc. in favor of a Tesla with Self-Driving.
Real luxury is a car that drives itself, saves your life, and gives you your time back. Few understand.
A wholesome moment between FSD and a school bus ❤️
The school bus needed more room, so FSD automatically reversed about 15 feet (4.5 m) to make space.
The bus driver initially waved at the Tesla owner. When the owner pointed at the car, the driver realized FSD had done it — and responded with a big smile and a happy fist pump. 🤗
A beautiful little moment of interaction between humans and autonomous driving.
