@VABVOX The problem is, I've seen multiple different interpretations on what "defund the police" means. There is no consistency.
I like the simple "Police Accountability". Define it as encompassing a 360° review and restructure of police departments nationwide.
Two senators on their way out the door. Nothing left to lose. Total leverage. And they traded it for a memo. A piece of paper. Cornyn and Tillis folded like lawn chairs, and everybody knew they would. Again.
@Beatriceueu@NYRUC4L ... And raising your premium/rates once you finally do need it.
Yet the annual CEO bonus structure for that industry is extremely healthy.
@SarahTamara@NYRUC4L Yes, and then they marked your account for 3 years for filing a claim, even though you were not at fault.
Your rates went up bc you were now more risky - Eben though you'd paid for years to have the coverage.
They really are getting over.
@CVODON@Steve_Kicinski@NYRUC4L When coverage is mandatory, there should be tight regulations in place to control pricing and affordability.
That is not the case.
So the companies have a free consumer base AND free reign to extract as much as they want.
There is nothing to protect the mandated consumer.
@NYRUC4L Car insurance would cost a lot less if it wasn’t mandatory to have it. The companies would actually have to build an attractive policy with an attractive price.
@thalasttoknow@Steve_Kicinski@NYRUC4L My car was totaled in a hit & run... my premiums went up bc I filed a claim. I paid for non-insured, then had to pay MORE bc I actually had to use it!
Meanwhile their annual CEO bonus payout is insane.
The insurance industry is TRASH, and they know it.
Change is needed.
@PilotAlan1@Steve_Kicinski@NYRUC4L No, he's right.
When they made it mandatory, there should have also been regulation around it to protect the consumer. Like no credit checks for renewal, no increases based on area issues (storms, hail, etc).
What’s the point of having car insurance if you can’t buy tires, car parts, car services etc. when you need it….You could literally be paying car insurance for years and never have one accident and all your money is going to what exactly…….? Potential?
This is such complete and utter bullshit on the part of @SenThomTillis and @JohnCornyn. Giving the Trump crime family immunity from tax audits remains as corrupt as anything we’ve ever seen in this country.
@DAGToddBlanche should be impeached, not confirmed.
Donald Trump wants to put an innocent man in prison for 10 years rather than admit the no bid contract he offered to his crony was a mistake. Think about how terrible of a person you have to be to do that.
After contributing to a deadly outbreak of measles among American children by denigrating vaccines, Trump's "health" secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. suddenly changes his mind and says the measles vaccine is a good idea. Well, yes. https://t.co/4h55horcrv
I want to be VERY CLEAR. Dan Patrick went *against the will of the majority of the people in this state* because a donor told him to. The people of Texas have spoken on THC and there was no desire to ban it.
We cannot have people in office who are blatantly telling us fuck you
Mitch McConnell's Communications Director, Stephanie Penn, makes $214,000 a year.
Penn graduated from the University of Louisville in 2009 with a BS in marketing and business administration.
She has worked for McConnell since 2009. She started as a Staff Assistant and in became Press Assistant in 2011. Then in 2013 she advanced to Deputy Communications Director, then became McConnell's Press Secretary in 2015. Penn was promoted to Communications Director in October of 2025.
All his staff is still getting paid while Kentuckians are without full Senate representation for 50 days.
And yes, @StephaniePenn makes more money than McConnell.
Just for starters.....
- Money laundering
- War crimes
- Insider trading
- Corruption
- Market manipulation
- Illegal wars
- Self dealing
If Congress can impeach a president for lying about a blowjob, surely they can impeach a president for these things.
November is coming.
Just a reminder that the president of the United States recently had to pay almost $6 million to the woman he sexually abused and defamed, and not one reporter has asked him about it.
This week we will learn that Mitch McConnell is dead.
He will have miraculously lived just long enough to ensure Thomas Massie can’t run in a special election.
Not only is Taylor Farms serving you up a diarrhea parasite with your summer salad, they use forced labor to pick the lettuce. They pay the Arizona Department of Corrections $4.75/hr for prison labor, and the workers make $1.50/hr.
They are truly an evil.
