These two clips are from Joe Sweeny — a fellow New Yorker I follow on IG. He filmed them in his neighborhood before and after ICE’s operation in Downtown Manhattan. Joe’s an independent voter and here’s what he wrote:

“As I sit here today on this gorgeous Sunday afternoon in Manhattan, I still can't even believe this is real. Here are two videos of Tribeca (New York city's most expensive real estate), to show to the world the before and after ONE SINGLE DAY of ICE (who a democratic majority of American citizens incidentally voted for), in complete comport with federalism, did their job. I've lived in this area for years.

This particular corridor has been a fucking HAVEN of illegality, blight, drug use, trash, muggings, graffiti, harassment, and crime. The hardworking men and women who live in this neighborhood had to take back streets and alleys just to avoid the area.

As of this morning, for the first time in over TWO DECADES, it is now clean, open, bright, and illuminated. You can feel a fresh breeze moving up the avenue. Just totally surreal.

I stopped to talk to a police officer from the First Precinct who was parked on Broadway and Canal and wound up having a cup of coffee together, at one point literally laughing, shaking our heads in absolute marvel at the beauty of this contrast. Insane.

Guys: we can have a beautiful world. We can vanguard a Renaissance. If we stop with the race baiting, if we have the courage to admit illegal immigration (regardless of the migrant's country of genesis!) is disastrous to American interests, we can come together. And we can finally, possibly, resolutely, build that city on the hill.”
