Every year in Gongju I get exactly two trick-or-treaters, my friend Brenton’s daughters, and it’s so much fun watching them get older and more confident. (Also their costumes get more creative.)
Print copy of Korean newspaper Jeonnam Ilbo's unprecedented front page.
Below the title it reads:
"Jeonnam Ilbo uses a 6 colour rainbow title, a symbol of peace with the meaning of respect for the human rights of sexual minorities."
Dropping in on my twitter friends to remind you that Parasite has FINALLY come out in the USA and it’s an amazing movie! (Also this article is excellent and spoiler free.) https://t.co/BgnyOfs6Uz
life cycle of a twitter friendship:
• shyly faving each other’s tweets
• nervous DMs
• meeting up
• cross-country road trip to escape your ex
• series of robberies with the police in hot pursuit
• bursting into a flock of crows and disappearing into the woods together
Gongju’s busiest night of the year—opening of the Baekje Festival. PSY is about to perform in the park by the river but I’m most excited about the fireworks afterwards. Baekje usually puts on an amazing display.
Holy shit - Pico Iyer is doubling down HARD on this "beauty of not speaking Japanese in Japan" bullshit.
"The less my Japanese neighbors talk, the more room there is for surprise, and for them constantly to transcend my understanding."
That's, uh...

@monetwithlove Whenever I get on this topic I sound impossibly cynical. I hope I’m wrong. I have seen a couple healthy relationships but that was in Europe where women have more rights than in the US.
@monetwithlove Do they exist? I suspect it’s ALMOST impossible in a world where women have fewer human rights and less economic power than men. Though the size of that gap probably varies by race.
