Jesse brings over a decade of experience in elite sport environments across Australia (AFL) and the US (NBA, NHL, NCAA), with a background spanning S&C, sport science, return-to-play, and performance leadership
He’ll be based in the Bay Area, supporting teams and practitioners on the West Coast, helping our community in preparing their athletes for the next-level of performance 🤝
Isokinetic ➡️ Ballistic for First-Step Speed
Awesome superset from Eric Hodgin of the San Diego Clippers:
1️⃣ Isokinetic 1-Step. The concentric speed is limited, so the athlete has to create max force against the 1080 Sprint 2. This primes that movement pattern for what’s next
2️⃣ Ballistic 1-Step. Creating a potentiation effect from the first exercise, athletes shift to max speed against a light/moderate load, moving towards execution at game speed
Bonus: instant feedback on every rep, tracking force production in the isokinetic reps and making sure the ballistic reps keep reaching higher speeds

Time and RPE are completely free. I’ve found including the coach’s interpretation of session RPE also very insightful (to avoid large disparity)

All the physical tests CT mentioned I agree with also, especially jump battery (getting asyms if poss. compared to baseline is huge here)
