However, there are a ton of medical reviews and psychological studies (you can Google) on the importance of skin to skin contact even with Premies. Of course there are exceptions, and it's just as important to recognize that as well.

@USTaiwanese @OliLondonTV Skin to skin does not need to come from mom, but it's crucial for development. There are babies born that the mother is not involved for various reasons, and volunteers will replace the mother in skin to skin contact.

@USTaiwanese @OliLondonTV As a twin mom, I can only speak on my knowledge. Twins are usually and routinely born early, even with steroid shots, their lungs aren't fully developed at birth and they need NICU assistance. Thus the oxygen. And skin to skin contact is important to babies development.
