I have exciting news! I won two awards at Quills last weekend—first place in new voices with my novel and the silver Typewriter award for "The Manhunt".

I love summer mornings. I sometimes get up to two hours of quiet time to write before the kids wake. Not only that, the house is warm and full of sunlight, and the birds are chirping. Our dogs often wrestle first thing in the morning as well, but they thankfully let me work. 😂
What’s the strangest thing you’ve ever eaten? Mine is crickets. They were dried and in the center of a sucker. My dad brought them home from his travels when I was a kid. I’ve also eaten octopus, also encouraged by my dad. I think my desire to try new things came from him.
I'm trying to edit my novel, and my two-year-year old climbed under my desk and squeezed my calves, saying, "You're so squishy, mama!" Then she looked up and said, "You have a big nose."
How am I supposed to edit with all of these compliments?
The Manhunt will soon be available for subscribers. My next newsletter goes out on Monday, May 6th.
He’s an officer on the verge of catching a criminal he’s been hunting for a year. She’s a spinster on a manhunt of her own.

@TheNicoleNeuman If I hadn't been a reader myself, I might not have understood. My daughter doesn't realize how lucky she is that her mom reads as well, lol.
Actual conversation between my teen and I . . .
Teen: Can you please let me shower before he (little brother) does? I haven't showered yet.
Me: Why didn't you shower when I told you to?
Teen: Because I was reading.
Me: Okay.

Each time I receive a message that says “Dear author, I glanced at your amazing book . . .”, I understand why agents ignore queries that aren’t personalized.
My daughter won her school read-a-thon by reading 13,471 pages in a month! She chose this set of books as her prize. She's a fan of Jane Austen just like I am. ;)
Any guesses as to which book she read first? Which would you read first?
