Author Kate DiCamillo brilliantly explains the power of being read to. It’s not just for kids, but for all of us throughout our lives, and we couldn’t agree more: https://t.co/oKl0bMMBuO
Our students learn more from the way we do things than from what we are doing. Do we cut corners, complain, or give the least amount of effort possible? Do we overachieve, go above and beyond, or never give up until we succeed? They are always watching.
Great teachers see the joy, excitement & optimism students bring into their rooms each fall & use it to catapult their classroom culture to amazing places. Others squash it because it's too noisy or not in the lesson plan for today.

Grades are rarely successful at teaching students about responsibility, time management & organization (many adults still struggle).
Instead, an overemphasis on grades creates a culture of compliance.
In reality, grades should be about an evidenced demonstration of learning.
Lots of activity as students summarized and recorded with #shadowpuppetedu. They also created some @StickAroundApp puzzles with their own unfamiliar word lists. #novelstudy
