My favourite item belonging to Lord Mountstuart! ⭐️ The jacket was possibly acquired during his trip to Spain in 1791. This type of jacket is associated with the ‘majo’, whose traditional dress was appropriated and idealised amongst aristocratic Spaniards during the late 18th c.
How dazzling is this silver-embroidered waistcoat belonging to John, Lord Mountstuart? This patterned silk waistcoat is a small yet impressionable feature in Thomas Lawrence’s portrait of Lord Mountstuart. @femmesoffashion 🧵👇#DressHistory
